T.L.Incorrect. Don't act like a know-it-all unless you actually know what you're talking about. You need to read up on the distinction between a PLATFORM and a PUBLISHER.
In 1994, in the Turner Broadcasting v. FEC case the Supreme Court said it “does not disable the government from taking steps to ensure that private interests not restrict . . . the free flow of information and ideas.”.

Also..
Under section 230 of the CDA, PLATFORMS were given immunity against any dangerous fuckery that their users post on their sites. The consequences of things like libel law fall onto the USER on a platform. This is a protection that true PUBLISHERS (content curators) take advantage of because the laws on the books are never applied as written due to big-tech lobbying.

For example: NS is a publisher. Without a doubt. But, if NS ever went to court over things that were posted on here, I'd bet you $100 they would claim themselves as a platform so that that they're released of all liabilities of what was posted. Shit.. a forum this old most certainly has which is why they insist on active moderators and admins... so they can curate the content.
If you don't understand the absolutely massive implications of what is going on right now with the internet, you better wake the fuck up or you might as well start burning books. If you are on the side of ANY platform censorship whatsoever, you are on the wrong side. The world is not a nice place..people are evil.. we get it, but, if we continue to censor what can be discussed on TRUE platforms, you're really not going to like the world we're going to be living in soon. Bank on it.
Amazing how the pro-fascism crowd here don't just come out and say it: "I'm a fascist and I'd like to control how people think and speak because someones feelings are probably hurt somewhere.".
You bootleg-woke idiots better shape up. It's very unbecoming to be such a dumb smart person.
LonelyI do think there needs to be some discussion about what hosting services, financial services and social media companies can prevent you from doing or seeing.
Young_IPMCI’d have to agree, but I’m just trying to point out that what you mentioned is more or less half of the goal of the republican party. People who support that have no right to complain when it doesn’t go their way.
LonelyCare to elaborate? From what I've seen on social media recently (twitter, insta, youtube) it has been mostly republicans and conservatives who have been outspoken about suppression. I can see there being an argument for trump wanting to suppress people who disagree with him but it seems like republicans and conservatives are usually the target of removal and suppression. Now, a lot of those individuals have had some pretty posts or videos in poor taste, but nothing that should be suppressed or removed. There seems to be a pretty clear bias on most of these platforms.
Young_IPMCI’m saying that you can’t want as open and free markets as possible and then try to regulate those markets to ensure that everyone can use them as they see fit. That’s kind of the opposite of free-market capitalism, which is a rather common conservative desire.
