TheWeazOr buy an actual ski bit... 4.1 bits are made to go through metal while the 3.5 and 3.6 are not so your gonna need a 4.1mm by either 9 or 9.5mm. Those bits are also stepped so you cant drill too far.
BedBugDougThanks dude, I had no idea they made ski specific stuff. I've just been comparing the bits I use to the screws to find the right one.
BedBugDougI figured out that that if I use a small dimension bit it gets through then size up to the correct dimension and it works.
In hindsight, I would take weaz's advice and buy stepped bits designed for skis
TheWeazYou can also wrap electrical tape around your regular bit to create a step that bottoms out on the top sheet so you don’t drill through the ski.
freeskibum82By the time he does that it would be cheaper to go have a shop do it.
This. make sure to use a Ti bit. it'll be much easier. There are also stop collars you can get for regular drill bits that use a set screw to set your depth.
TheWeazA stepped bit is maybe $30 retail, last I checked a mount cost more then that at any shop.
Also if your bros with the shop or ask nicely they might have some used bits kicking around they could give or sell you for cheap, I know the last shop I worked at switched out the bits pretty frequently to make it easier on the tech who’s mounting 50 skis a day. The used bits require slightly more effort but will still drill fine.

$15ea for the bits. I only wish jigs were cheaper.
freeskibum82paper jigs if you know what you are doing cost nothing but your time. can be found over at tgr forums for most bindings
