Anyone DISLIKE Ski Towns in the Summer - not just bc no skiing?

So I really like hiking. Drive to northern New England once a week to hike something. Often bust my cot out in the visitor center at Mt Washington so I can be on the trail before 5am and hike it twice in one day. Sure its not skiing but its physical activity I enjoy 'almost' as much in the mountains etc etc.

In the winter when I'm staying in Stowe or skiing Wildcat and staying in North Conway I like getting a hotel room and always wish I could stay another night.

In the summer I drive up there to hike and am happy to GTFO and drive another 3 hours home and spend 6-8 hrs in the car in a day before and after the hike cause I just don't feel like hanging. Its all green and shitty and theres mad fucking weeds and shit everywhere you look when your driving around and I enjoy being on the mountain itself but I don't really want to kick it and hang up there. I like Western mountains in the summer but those are pretty landlocked.


Anyone feel me?

100% agree. Ski resorts here in Colorado are fucking over run with tourists and old people. If they have a good MTB scene its chill but most mountains don't. Winter Park in the summer is sick, Breck/Copper is fucking dogshit.

I’m pretty damn jealous of my brother in law in Vail honestly. Mountainbiking in the summer almost sounds better than skiing in the winter.
but also, living in Vail in a small expensive 1BR... i’ll stick to my suburban Denver living with cars, motorcycles, nightlife, street racing...

Park city is a great summer town, golf, biking, hiking, not as busy around town, it's great.

Sadly I've been out of business (ran out of money) for 2 years and change. It was a good run. IDK how there are so many tickets on stubhub these days and anyone can make money with the fees. If they hit someone credit card for 100 bucks the scalper on the other side is only getting like 60-65. How can anyone make $$$ after that when your paying fees and shit.

Been in construction related stuff last couple years.

The summer concert series up there is pretty sweet too. Its actually hilarious to watch middle aged men get shit faced and dance around to Journey cover bands. The drive from PC up over the top of the ridge of Deer Valley to Guardsman road that takes you back down Big Cottonwood Canyon or Pine Canyon that wraps around the back of the Wasatch to Sundance is one of the coolest drives I have ever done, especially if you go past Sundance and over the ridge on Alpine Loop Road.

I like PC in the summer. Not as many parking restrictions and lots of pretty rich girls in sundresses. And main street laps.

Reno/Tahoe are their own towns that have other shit than skiing. Wonderful in the summer. I've been to Jackson WY and it was pretty nice although there were fuckloads of fat southerners with Alabama plates and their dumb kids running at wildlife.

This rant is more pertinent to New England. But I can imagine being stuck at Kirkwood in the summer would be shitty and kinda creepy.
