Been watching all the Level 1 movies and it brought back a lot of memories of skiing back when it was all new and fresh and people were pushing the sport in crazy ways.
Here are somethings that were different back then.
Getting kicked out of the park and getting a ticket or pass pulled for being in there. Parks use to be snowboard only and if you were caught with skis in the park it was a big deal. It didn't last to long though but it sucked while it did.
Trying to have skis center mounted. Trying to talk a shop guy into mount a ski dead center was difficult, a few times I talked them into doing it only to show up to pick up my skis to see that they mounted them in the traditional point. Then again telling them no I want these mounted dead center. They never offered new skis either for their mess up because they thought skis with a center mount would be unskiable.
Seeing other twins on the slope. You would legit get excited when you saw someone else with twin tips and ski over to talk to them and end up skiing together.
Freeze magazine was the best thing at the time to show what was happening in the ski world.
Sketchy parks, when you could get in the parks they were terrible. Jumps with no landing, messy halfpipes and rails that were either to tall to get onto or had jumps that were taller than the rails.
Getting chased down and yelled at by patrol for skiing backwards. More than once we had to prove we were in control while skiing backwards so we could keep our tickets.
