e.litttMy explore feed on ig is just full of the same clip that gets re-posted by a bunch of different repost pages, it's like scrolling through a feed with alzheimer's
d00dYou could post an edit to instagram TV?
TRVP_ANGELworst one that comes to mind is @jed_blue_waters
coulda dropped so many dank edits
DIRTYBUBBLEGonna go against the grain here but edits are fucking dead. There are no advantages to posting edits rather than just gram cuts. It’s not worth it unless you already have made a name for yourself (Oliver Hoblitzelle, SIMPLE, etc).
Also everyone is overlooking the fact that 90% of skiers only use their iPhone to film nowadays. Do you really want to watch 5 minute long cuts of iPhone quality footage?
c-friesIf you're only posting edits to "make a name for yourself" then I think you have this whole thing backwards - go email all your "sponsor me" clips to your favorite brands and try making the name that way. What "advantage" are you after anyways? how about just trying to entertain fellow skiers?
c-friesI for one remember the days where friends and i went out trying to stack enough footage for a full edit. it was incredible. someone with a real camera who knew how to edit trying to make us look as dope as possible, all of us crowding behind the camera watching and rewatching a sick shot one of our friends got and then waiting to see how it would look in the full edit. the experience was magical - and then posting to NS seeing if it hyped people up. there's something seriously lacking when you're just posting 10 second clips to IG.
c-friesand how about mini movies - banged up? color? the regiment? those don't leave a lasting impression on you? i can also give a good guess that these were not just shot on some kids iphone..

DIRTYBUBBLEI agree. I personally make edits just because I enjoy it. But a lot of skiers these days take this shit seriously and are trying to build clout/get sponsored/“make it”.
And those days are over (unfortunately). Filmers aren’t as common as they were 6-7 years ago and NS isn’t the same website it use to be. Site traffic on here has slowed down dramatically. No one is watching edits anymore. Like Corey said we are in the minority.
And back to my point: all of these were produced by people who have already made a name for themselves in the skiing community.
I remember a thread on here a few years ago about some European dude who was disappointed that his edit had no views. His edit was about 10 minutes long. Was shot on a professional camera and edited very well. The content itself was pretty good too. It had doubles, and urban, and plenty of insane shots. There was no reason his edit shouldn’t have had done better. It’s just a sad fact that today’s skiers don’t care for edits anymore.
