Mouth guard

Does anyone else wear a mouth guard while skiing?

I have a history of getting concussions and have a problem grinding my teeth while I am exerting myself(dont do meth, it is bad for you) and plus I have a decent amount of time and money wrapped up in them. I am just curious if anybody else wears one too.

Remember, take care of your teeth. They are with you the rest of your life and most everyone likes a good smile, keep them healthy.

I wear a mouthguard when skiing big mountain and 90% of the time when skiing jumps. Not sure if it helps, but it sure can't hurt. I can't afford new teeth right now, can afford a $5 mouth guard. Plus you feel like a beast when you put it in

I started wearing one over 5 years ago. Saved my teeth, jaw, and prevented concussions multiple times.

If you're self conscious about a mouth guard (FYI I don't use one but I might consider it depending on the situation), buy a mouth guard meant for your lower jaw. It will conceal nicely and still allow you to talk easily. It won't protect your upper teeth from frontal impacts but it will do everything else an upper mouth guard will do.

Mouth guards are always a good idea. When I was in high school I overshot a step down dirt jump on my mountain bike and landed on my head from about 10 ft up. The messed up part is I ride clipless pedals (The shoes the attach to the pedals) and literally landed on my head still attached to my bike. My teeth chomped together so hard it shattered the top row of front teeth and broke of the tops off the bottoms. I had to get a few of them filed and capped, some just capped and a root canal. If I had a mouth guard I would have been fine so you never know when that big hit is going to come.

I used to wear one often. The cost of braces alone warrants the purchase of one if skiing large terrain and jumps. I haven't delved into the research, but apparently some concussions are caused by the teeth/jaw slamming together. May help prevent concussions too.

I used to bash competitive moguls and flip on ice bumps; they were nice to have. Kinda like a helmet for teeth. Once I found the powder; I ditched it. Now that Im racking up air miles, I should invest in one for the big hucks.

I should probably start, my friend kneed himself in the chain frontflipping and fucked up his tongue, now he always wears one, cause he also sends 30 ft drops all the time. Back protectors are a good call too, took a day to get use to it.

bought a 5$ one from canadian tire for this season because last season i kneed myself in the face and chipped one of my teeth I also bit my tongue. this season i used it and it saved all my front teeth and a concussion at least once. so for next season i am going to be investing in a nicer guard for sure.
