We have all come back to the car from a day of riding one time or another to find the battery is dead and that you dont have any jumper cables. Sucks having to go around asking, hey, do you have any cables, if you do, can you give me a jump? Most times you do find someone able and willing to help, sometimes it ends up being an employee of the mountain. What are some good items to pack in your ride when going to the mountain? Of course cables or a jump box, but what else has any one needed one time or another?
Very good information! Letting someone know where you are at when you are out solo is a huge thing! I have been on a few searches myself looking for a buddy when they would go out by themselves not letting anybody know where they are. Makes for a challenging scavenger hunt.
Pack a spare and make sure it has air.
I changed my tire when it was puking snow once. It would not have been a good time or place to be stranded.
Pack a shovel too.
another no-brainer that can be easy to forget is to keep some seriously warm clothing in your car, more than you can imagine needing beforehand. a serious jacket, gloves, pants, sleeping bag, etc could save your ass some day (or night)
With that in mind kids it’s always a good idea to let people know where you are going to be and when they should hear from you anyways. Your parents don’t care if you’re going to see that butter face Natalie, or your stoner friend Todd they care more about your safety than anything, making sure you live.
A emergency bottle of liquor.
Hear me out.
You can use it to help pass the time (if your waiting in a toe truck or random help on the highway).
You can use it to start a fire in a emergency.
You can use as a emergency congratulations gift.
You can use as body warmer when the weather is not super cold (this depends on if your a active drunk or lazy drunk).
Or just use it for parties on the fly.
I usually keep a bulleit bourbon or a bottle of tequila (I know it’s not as flammable but I like to drink tequila) in the van.
I got 16' jumper cables, a 20' tow strap a snow shovel, a tire plugging kit, a cordless air compressor/flashlight, raisins and throw in my 5° bag if its dumping and a chance of the pass closing.
A bug out bag is essential for anyone, I have
3 days rats
6x litres water
5x mags for my 22.
Insect repellent, talc powder, spare socks, a compass and protractor for nav.
A hammock
And booze for when normal currency loses it's value due to stock market crashing. Bourbon will be the new currency.
When shit hit's the fan, I will be the one who is prepared #zombiekiller.
