Every time someone litters patrol should tie them to a stake next to the top of the lift to remind the people what littering could get you.

If you want to make a rule when it’s patrols discretion thats fine, but I want people who blatantly throw their beer cans or hand warmers on the ground to loose their pass.
Thats just a shitty human. I get things occasionally falls out but I draw the line at blatant littering.

Intentionally littering is a tip of the iceberg type offense.
If someone wants to use the mountain as their trash can they are probably a horrible person.

Whenever I see trash on the mountain I pick it up and pocket it
Then I put it into a rubbish bin at the base, but most of the time i forget i have garbage in my pocket and at the end of the season there'll be like a scrunched up beer bottle and random shit

I agree people who liter need to be punished. I think depending on the degree or attitude of the person than yes the pass should be pulled but I think a fine would be more worthy for a disciplinary action. What is it usually, $300 fine for littering on a public roadway? Should be the same for a ski slope.

There should definitely be some sort of punishment for littering but at the same time it's extremely hard to regulate. A good solution is have all users of the mountain report someone blatantly littering to the patrol if everyone is watching you for littering it's never going to happen.

I agree that people should pay a fine/have their passes clipped. Hills and mountains also need to make it somewhat convenient to throw away their trash. Garbage's at the top and bottom of each lift would help a ton.

My home hill while I was in school rarely had trash cans set out, and because of this people tended to throw their cans all over the place. Also a fan of a mid lift garbage can to "attempt" to throw your cans in to. At least this condenses all the trash so 1 person could gather it quickly. The resort needs to manage that type of situation though.

A buddy and me were riding up the lift at Ripley last season behind one of the local high school race coaches. He threw the reese's wrapper from the reese's he got from the liftie off the lift in front of us. We started clowning and talking shit to the dude and he got so pissed off. I work park crew there and have a great relationship with all the employees and especially the GM. The fact that after all that he still never picked it up and we had to get it later, pissed me off so much. Why are all ski race coaches (other than my mom) tools?

The amount of trash under the lifts at Whistler is disgusting. It's everyone too: rich tourists all the way to park rats. It does need to be punished, especially when we share the mountains with wildlife.

I’m against littering and myself have never littered at the mountain. With that being said, there is a BIG difference between littering at the resort versus backcountry. If someone doesn’t want to keep an empty can or sticky bag in their pocket, I’m not bothered if they toss it, as a staff or patroller will inevitably pick it up, and one could argue that’s a service which comes with ticket/pass price. Thus I don’t see resort litter as so much an environmental issue, but whether it’s the resort’s job to pick up trash.

Littering is actually good for the environment, the garbage decays far quicker outside a landfill in most cases.

Put garbage cans at every lift tower that way it would be fun to try to shoot your beer cans from the lift in the trash can
