Bringing ski gear pretty much eliminates the ability to travel light. I wish I skateboarded and built skateparks. A small backpack with some clothes and a board on the back = done.

I got 7 months stay on a heavy lift ship with maybe a month in between if I am lucky.
Never without my laptop, phone, chargers, external hard drive with 1 Tb of games and movies. Liquor, smokes and friends help me through the hard times

If we are talkng about the only one thing I can't travel without, my answer is money. But of course, there are many things I usually take with me like clothes, documents and different accessories (by the way, I was lucky to find a good list of travel accessories stores and having looking through them, I found several things that can be useful for every traveler). As I like camping, I should think about everything I need to take with me in advance, so some things are really necessary to have.

I got so many weird looks last year when a friend sliced her ski pants and back at the lodge asked for a sewing kit and I had one. But for real knowing how to stick up a deep lac is why I have it.
