A jerbs a jerb. A free bullshit food isn't bad if you're young and down to east said bullshit food. I never rocked fast food, but the closest one is an hour to my parents house. Def rocked some shitty jobs though.

I would think one perk to fast food is probably being sort of hard to get fired if you're somewhat competent and generally show up to work on time.

Congrats....My first job was also in the food industry. Cleaning nasty peoples messes off of tables after they left and helping the waitresses and then cleaning up after closing.
Nasty stuff but hey its money.

Congratulations! Meh, at least it's some sort of job. I'm gonna give my resume to a few places and try and get a summer job. Will honestly probably work in fast food too.

Imagine Hotel Maids. They have it the worst; knew someone who did that line of work; she said the pays sucks and people are fucking disgusting. To all the unsung heros of the tourism industry; you have my respect.

I decided that I will pick my jobs from an early age. When I got turned down berry picking at 15, I worked under the table in lawn maintenance. I was blown away how much money there is in that. My boss was 60 and still making a great living.
Always had jobs I loved; indoor climbing staff, ski coach, marine engineer... trying many different jobs makes you know yourself a little better; finding out what you can stomach, what you love and care about and what you will never do again.

Its awesome to at least start somewhere other than your parent payroll. Gives you humility and wisdom.

I cleaned hotel rooms in a casino for a summer. Nasty!!!! I almost walked off the job several times because of the grossness I've encountered. That was almost 10 years ago and the pay was $8 hr. One of the worst jobs I ever had.
When you stay at a hotel dont put your stuff on the top blanket on the bed. In fact just dont touch it at all.

My 2 cents on hard food service industry jobs:

Fuck the customer. As an employee, my goal is to serve good food and provide solid customer service, not to massage the customer's ego and bend over backwards to their demands. They are lucky to enjoy the food we offer, and I'm ready to call customers out on unreasonable requests to keep the line running smoothly and the employees happy. Respect gets respect, it goes both ways, especially in food service. It's nice working for a small company with high demand for the product. Starbucks managers didn't like me calling out asshole customers, but it made me feel good that the shitty customer felt shitty. Fuck em. There's always someone next in line with a better attitude and cash in hand.

Also, smoke weed everyday

Hotel/Lodging works pretty much the same all across the board, like either youre cleaning nasty-as-hell rooms or dealing with these nasty people in person at the front desk, depending on the style of property and level of service. Had lots of fun at some ski-in/out properties doing lodging stuff. Rich people trash super nice condos just as bad but the only difference is they leave behind a lot more free food and booze which is chill.

Service industry jobs and work are like such massive character builders. I cant even begin to tell you how many people including myself spent a decent chunk of our time busting ass for terrible people only to be all like "Yeah my goal is to find something thats NOT this to do for a living" and boom, now you got motivation to go off and find a better job.
