Looking to pick up some new skis this summer but having a hard time picking out what waist width I should go for. I'm an all mountain skier that kind of hits the park but just for jumps. I was thinking something in the 80s but it looks like 100s are the norm now. Any advice?
regardless, yeah all mtn skis are more toward 100 in the waist these days unless you only ski park or you want to really prioritize groomer performance. i'd recommend something in the 90s in the waist, that can truly do it all and won't be too lacking much in any all mtn situation, good snow or bad snow
I like having a go fast ski and since I ski a lot in the Sierras I bought a vantage x 83 for straight groomers and frothy turns. I ski the Armada ARV 106 as my daily I love the playfulness and it rips ice, powder, high speeds and carves like a fiend. I have a really hard time
Picking that one ski so instead I’m building a 3 ski quiver. Groomer / carver - playful all arounder - pow only
I do think something in the 98-106 range tho is gonna be best bet for just all mountain / all condition
