whats your guitar setup?

My rig - 2017 Ibanez RGA42fm with terrible FLAT frets, SD invader in the bridge.
2018 Jackson Dinky MIM with a floyd rose 1000, SD JB/59 set of pickups.

Amps:
Marshall Code 50
Fender Champion 20

Pedals:
Ibanez TS9 tube screamer
Dunlop Cry baby

I have a sonic blue fender mustang (putting a picture of kurt cobain cause i am to lazy to fetch a picture of my guitar (it's the exact same just mine is right handed))

Learn to play an acoustic first. fast , agressive even , and gentle , build up those calices and the raw control . Then step over to an electric . It'll be way easier and now you can get even more sounds from the electric

I got a baby blue Mexican strat played through a fender excelsior. The problem is that when I got the guitar I was too dumb to realize that I wanted a tele. So now I'm stuck playing Stones' songs on a strat like a total IDIOT

got a few so ill make a list:
Guitars:
1984 Japanese Fender Bullet, my first guitar which is in a restoration process right now
Epiphone SG 69' limited edition
Epiphone Emperor Swingster, my hollow body, or a poor mans gretsch, but not really its a stand alone kingpin and does really well
Ibanez RG350DXZ, my thrash metal beauty with EMG pickups
Yamaha FS270S acoustic, one of the most raw sounding acoustics ive played that was only 200 bones
Taylor BT2 Baby acoustic, this thing is a great for travelling and has the output of a regular size acoustic at half the size.

Amps:
Marshall 100fx half stack with red amp and black cabinet
Line 6 spider 3 75 watt, pretty dirt nasty for a digital amp. lots of great presets with tons of compatibility to pedals and customizations
Vox AC30c2, my dime piece
Vox plug in metal headphone amp, thing kicks ass
Fender 15G, first amp i owned and does well for how minimal it is

Been playing for 14 years and have never sold any of my equipment. Every piece is unique and different!

I a few acoustic axes, a classical, and a few electrics along with a few amps. I dont know exact model numbers and such but they sound good to my liking.

I was in a gas station in Idaho many years back(2003?) and the dude behind the counter was playing an old acoustic 6 string and he sounded good(to a newb he sounded great!) and I mentioned that. He asked if I played, I said no, he reached over the counter and handed me his ax, he said I could have it on two conditions.....#1 I had to learn how to play it. I couldnt believe it but it happened, he handed me his guitar(he had a new one to replace it with of course). #2 I had to pay it forward once i learned how to play it. About 1 year later I was playing decent enough to pass it on and it found a new home to a young man and I gave him the same 2 rules. Be cool to see where that guitar is now.

Never learn acoustic first, if you don’t play any music that involves acoustic guitar you’re just wasting money.

Hmm I'm gonna disagree. Raw skill on an acoustic goes everywhere . You can't always play with an amp...and I think being able to play your own stuff rather than other people's is way better

Just bought my first tube amp and she FUCKIN HAULS. It's a fender blues junior III and I've been playing it with a Fireball branded Strat I won at a liquor store. No tone knob, no problem.

Anyone else self taught ? I just think of a guitar as geometry and string tension lol.. I learned to play piano though first so that's probably why I can learn/play in an abstract way

I’m 100% self taught if you don’t count the occasional youtube video to learn something like tapping. I play and see the guitar in shapes and I’ve memorized the fretboard that way.

Self taught myself(yes, I bought the book, Guitar for dummies). Started to learn to read music but gave it up, i just played through how it sounded and practice. Have used the occasional youtube video here and there but for the most part it was just all ear.

The way I play changes heavily on the guitar I'm using, but I find that my favorite other than acoustic finger picking, is getting a range of sounds as a result of a really high volume on an electric while playing gentle most of the way

As long as you are rockin and having fun, doesnt matter. I know learning from a teacher can teach you the correct ways and maybe develop good habits.

That honestly does make way less sense though , learning to play acoustic is universal and shoot, as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't even matter what you buy first , it's about learning that fret board
