Mtuhockey33They keep jacking up lift ticket prices but don’t do shit for their employees. They treat their employees that keep things running the worst and don’t give them adequate work wear (Aspen Snowmass’ employees don’t even have waterproof Helly Hansen work wear). They’re constantly understaffed and will hire temp workers at $2/hr more than their full time employees. They own the employee housing but keep jacking up housing costs while giving their employees that have been there for years $.25 raises. It’s a joke. I could keep going on and on but I’ll stop. /rant.
edit: I totally forgot that Aspen and all their “environmental” bullshit are still going to turn wildlife conservation land into a new lift and a brand new hotel that we definitely need 🙄

CalumSKIoh no, they dont even give free kits to people making making minimum wage, thats devastating!
Mtuhockey33Dude you go stand out in blowing snow/rain with inadequate work uniforms that you’re required to wear and don’t get to keep or modify in any way otherwise you’re subject to “damage to uniform” fines. It’s one thing if you could waterproof them or wear your own waterproof gear but nope 🤷🏻♂️ (I understand you can’t have everyone wearing their own stuff; it wouldn’t look “professional” but at least give adequate work uniforms)
People making minimum wage and standing outside need better work wear than the upper management who sits inside with their “pro” Helly Hansen equipment and occasionally go outside to check on things. It’s a joke.
CalumSKImost ski hills dont even give their employees kits
they have to bring their own
Mtuhockey33Trust me; I’d much rather wear my flylow bibs, my own underlayers (couldn’t wear them this year because they stuck out under my uniform and you lose your bonus if you get caught more than 4 times), and my own jacket than the shit they give. Unfortunately; that wasn’t an option. If you’re going to require people to wear uniforms at a SKI RESORT, at least make them waterproof. Every year the employees bitch and moan about the uniforms and nothing ever happens.
CalumSKI/subtlebrag about the bibs lol

Grindy_McSliderListen douchenozzle, we don't give a flying fuck what you do in your bedroom. IF you are getting triggered by some words you need to grow up. I work at a place that is very inclusive and they constantly tell me to castrate myself because I am a white male. I laugh because they are ones being divisive. If you let words affect you emotionally you are in for a rough time in this world. It's not all sunshine and rainbows.
50KalSo I’ve seen blatant hatred and general disregard for gay folk when it comes job promoting or task assignment at major ski resorts and other outdoor work positions.
Seeing hard working people get passed over for some stoner or some higher ups significant other sucks.
It’s great that (you) the next generation is more open minded and I truly believe it has gotten better for people in the LBGT communities in the outdoors work place,
but don’t act like for a second that solves all the inequality and racist remarks/harassment that still goes on.
Especially in more rural areas of the country there is still profound hatred for LBGT communities.
Grindy_McSliderAnd if I go into some areas of my native New Zealand and some Inner cities in the US, I get the hatred for being white, so your point being? If you are not getting the job perhaps you were just a shitty person and they didn't want you. No one wants an "oppression magnet" on their workforce. They want someone who is going to knuckle-down and do the job.
PS. I would be very surprised if they picked a stoner over you. Higher ups picking friends and SO's for jobs has been happening for years and you deal with it. Best way to get jobs is to have a friend or relation in a high position, everyone knows this. Open your mind and see that reality is unfair and nut up and deal with it.
Grindy_McSliderIf you let words affect you emotionally you are in for a rough time in this world.
DesertStix“Hatred for being white” lol ok bud
conorsuxTranslation ="why should I put thought into the language I use when I can just blame you for being overly sensitive"
DesertStix“Hatred for being white” lol ok bud
skeirman^guy who is only ever around white people
ParryWithAnAThis. Definitely dont like IG for many reasons. The biggest one being companies will use it as an end all metric and discount everything else. I had a pervious sponsor not want to pay me the full contract amount because the accounting lady (who doesn't have any clue about freeskiing) looked at my IG and say, "I dont see what you did for us last year." Discounted me rocking the product, using the @, giving out product on TAFT, skiing with it in TC, and sending well over 50 peices of content that they never shared.
This shit drives me up a wall. A IG model/kinda skier made a post about flying to Norway to ski and is also a POW ambassador. She got called out, and got all pissed. Her carbon footprint for that trip (just the plane ride) was about equal to 4 of us driving from the west coast to the east in the TC van. YOU CANT SKI AND TRAVEL THE WORLD AND BE A GOOD AMBASSADOR FOR COMBATTING CLIMATE CHANGE. We are all peices of shit for being part of an industry that isn't sustainable for the environment. Dont act like you AREN'T part of the problem and own up to it. Donate to down ticket democratic candidates if you want to so something. NOT PEOPLE/ORGANIZATION that eat up a % of donations, or the crooked DNC.
DesertStixI teach in an inner city with a very diverse student body but go off
skeirman^guy who interacts with minorities only when he's in a condescending position of power and authority over them; concludes no one hates people for being white
DesertStixIf you think teaching is a “condescending position of power” then I don’t know what to tell you my guy. I’m sure you contribute to society in an enormous way though.
skeirman^liberal white male who thinks teachers exist on a pedestal, that they are underpaid and underappreciated and that he's contributing to society by teaching in an "inner city" to minorities; concludes no one hates people for being white.
DesertStix^typical alpha aggro douche who thinks paying the teachers less than chick fil a managers is perfectly fine. Doesn’t know shit about what other people go through but live to judge from afar and doesn’t read well enough to notice I never said “no one hates people for being white.”
skeirman^Actual teacher who criticizes others for their reading comprehension skills, yet exhibits grammar at a 4th grade level.
a_pla5tic_bagI'm with Andy on insta, it's shit now and the way it's affected marketing is annoying but you can't stop that.
As far as climate issues, planes, cars, industry and such are going to operate whether or not you as an individual choose to use them, that plane was going Norway regardless of whether or not she was on it and the whole world can't stop using planes. Of course, instead of acting stupid she probably should have done a publicity stunt with some effect, like doing something to offset her carbon footprint from the air travel.
I think most sensible people realize that they're contributing to damaging the planet but it's not easy to do something about it. Everyone doing a little bit to mitigate their carbon emissions can make a difference if everyone does it, but that will likely pale in comparison to the increases that developing nations like India and Africa will emit (future emissions, not current, I know the US is second) as they rapidly industrialize. China already makes 30% of the emissions alone, and the issues created by other forms of pollution aren't as well tracked or talked about.
Forget the politicians and invest in yourself. I think one of the best ways to contribute would be to, if you're able, study hard and become a scientist or engineer of some kind. Come up with some original research and technology that can better the planet and essentially force people to do the right thing by having them adopt greener methods to do things because they're better for the planet and business. Disclaimer, this opinion is biased because I'm a PhD student, so one might expect me to say to use science to solve an issue. There's not so many right answers here anyway.
DesertStixBottom line is I could really care less to go back and forth with you at this point so I’ll either see you round the way without a keyboard and screen or I won’t. Enjoy your evening.

DercumDogsPeople get bullied for every reason under the sun. Toughen up world doesn’t revolve around you
AbiH!
If this conversation was in person I would kick your ass.
DolanReloadedAlso to the point of this thread, if you think hypocrites shouldnt be bullied over their hypocrisy go watch every episode of south park and get back to us.
DesertStixYour defense for being an absolute asshole is ...southpark?
CalumSKImost ski hills dont even give their employees kits

skeirmanThere are not enough BLACKS and GAYS in the industry because you crackers are racist homiphobes.
DolanReloadedAnd after you smacked him a few times he would knock your ass out. Then you would go crying to la policia telling them to arrest him. Then the police would laugh at you and tell you “sweetheart, this is reality, not game of thrones. Its 2019, if you start a fight with someone they have the right to end it however they want to.”
Then you would go home and cut yourself and post a picture of your wrists on facebook along with a statement about the horrors of sexism in the united states.
But seriously, please videotape your fight so we can all have a laugh.
johnblazeWhen all you have is a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail.
KevskiTo put it politely you literally sound like the biggest pile of shit. If you had a grain of compassion or vague interest in understanding others you would know that you are spewing complete nonsense.
It really isn't difficult to grasp that language carries deep societal consequences and that there's widespread benefit to caring for others (in whatever group they might be [mis]judged for). Worst case, you're just nice and make someone's day a little less shitty. Best case, you save their life.
Another concept you seem to fail to understand is that you simply aren't qualified to speak on behalf of a community you [presumably] are not a part of. Especially if you aren't even listening to what they have to say.
Seriously, before you defend your laziness or ignorance just think for a second about what you're saying and what it implies.
