Why is skiing a thing on the East coast?

We are still skiing pow out West. How’s the dirt and grass skiing on the East coast on your 500 feet of vert. Honestly sell your skis and do something better with your life.

for real though the skiing on the east doesnt really compare, but Id take the east coast scene over anything out west any day because luckily its not people like you that seem to litter the rockies and west coast

Just because we may not have the money to ski out west doesn't mean we can't ski at all.

Plus, skiing on ice all my life makes any condition skiiable.

I lived in Europe before moving to the East Coast and I have to say that the people I’ve met here are the most die-hard, hard-core fuckers I’ve ever met. The people on the East Coast aren’t spoiled by pow into May, so they appreciate a POW day that much more. Some of the best skiers in the world were bred here for the simple reason that if you have to learn to ski here on the East Coast, you can ski literally anywhere. I grew up skiing the Aiguille du Midi, some of the gnarliest big-mountain skiing in the world, but my buddies here out-ski me every time. It’s not about what you could be skiing, it’s about what you have. East Coasters appreciate every day that they can ski, even if it is hard and icy and insanely cold. West Coast skiers may have the snow, but the East Coasters have the soul.

Yeah, our terrain might not be as good, but that’s why we’re known as the best skiers on any mountain. Because a shitty day for everyone else is heaven for an east coast skier, we shred through the nitty gritty and adapt to what we got 🤟🏼 All for the love of the game, not to brag about how you live 20 minutes away from Vail

Anything east of colorado including colorado? Cuz the skiing in colorado sucks. When I think about where in the U.S. I would never want to live or ski colorado is the first state to come to mind.

The East is where all the heart is at. You wont see many people skiing in the rain/sleet on the West Coast. Also, like someone already said...most likely one of your favorite skiers came from the East.

Jokes on you I don’t wait in lines ever and I spend like 25$ for a day pass and 200$ for a season pass. Also if you don’t have a tow rope ur missing out it’s the best way to learn new tricks.

I’ll say that Tuckermans ravine is harder than anything I ever skied out in Utah, granted I didn’t go to far into the backcountry, but it is tougher than all the inbounds bowls at snowbird.

Because there's a million ski areas everywhere in the northeast. Also a lot of places are 1k+. Plenty are 2k+.

For places that don't have night skiing the skiing is similar. Less natural snow but the snow holds longer. Things get skied off faster or don't refresh but not that bad. If it rains its fucked cause it's cold.

The ski scene isn't really better out west even if the skiing usually is.

Us east coasters ski rain days because those are the days its not bulletproof landings. Had many good days with goretex on the east coast and no lift lines.

I would argue that gore, whiteface, jay etc have some terrain that rivals some of the stuff out west.

Also some really killer groomers.

Idk def some bigger mtns, features, and more snow out west but the east has some pretty legit skiing.

But those places are awesome! Tuckermans , jays Even snowshoe with its meek 4848’ has some nice inbounds and 1500 very and nice out o bounds , a little small, can learn it like the back of my own hand , the ballhooter rock drop is dope
