Do you ride in the rain?

Or do you tough it out?

Personally, we have enough good days out west to where I don't have a need to ride in the rain the few times it does rain during the season.

Inb4 some East Coasters chime in and tell me to suck it up: we all know the weather over there sucks, okay?

West Coast guy here.

Suck it up and get out there, especially at this time of year.

As a weekend warrior I think I caught two (2) days this year when the weather conditions were decent, not snowing much, reasonable visibility. I should have a couple more days in spring conditions if things go as planned.

Skiing in the rain in the east is where you can find the best conditions. The roughest part is keeping your eyewear dry. Once you mastered the gear, you dont feel the rain.

Living in BC, I take rain days as rest days. Try to get as many hrs as I possibly can before the predicted forecast; then take it easy until the conditions improve.

Props for all you rain skier; thats core riding right there.

Oh I probably should have prefaced this and not included late spring, where rain is expected. I'm about to head to squaw right now and it's supposed to rain

But during the winter /early spring I feel like I get plenty of days without rain. That's just my personal experience though

Rain skiing isn't as bad as people think. The groomers become dense, but also soft and fast. Now rain/snow mix is another story. That shit sucks really bad since the upper mountain will be thick, sticky peanut butter and then halfway down it swaps to rain and you switch from dragging the brakes to sudden warp speed, I hate that crap. It's way better if it's just warm rain top to bottom, especially if some rivers and pond skims start forming in random spots. The day after rain brings stupid levels of boiler plate ice unfortunately.

I would if I did not have a broken leg. Put an extra jacket in the car and carry some rags for your goggs. If you can ski today you better go for those of us that can’t

Skiing in the rain is fucking awesome.

-No lift lines/crowds

-Snow is soft and it doesn’t hurt to eat shit

-Rails don’t get sticky as easily (at least at my mountain).

Yeah so what if your clothes get wet? You’re sliding on frozen water anyway

real answer: it can be fine especially if you have great waterproof gear, but snow conditions can be super variable. i've had rain days with nice fast snow and rain days where the snow might as well have been glue

Grab some rubber gloves from the hardware store or bag your mitts and ski till the rails are falling out. Rain days are the best days as long as you have a good attitude. Nothing like a classic east coast puff up to bring the soft snow to the top, don’t question the science, its reasonably sound

I’ve had some of my most fun park days/nights in the rain. Me and my friends always try to tough it out and I always find myself going hard in the rain just because it feels like I’m soaked anyway might as well try shit. Makes for good memories
