Gun owners of NS, just got a 1350fps gamo swarm magnum break barrel
I know airguns are lame but as far as airguns go this thing is a serious pwnage machine. Anybody else have gamo guns? My goal is to one day have a silenced tikka creedmoor but im taking it slow for now. My only other guns are a crosman 1377 and a benjamin 392

Quality is everything, spend the right amount of money and you can build/buy an AR that'll be just as reliable and outshoot any AK. You can spend however much you possibly can on an AK but the 7.62x39 round will never outperform a .556

.300 Blackout can be a great round depending on the application. I would probably take it over .556 for a suppressed rifle, as that's what it was originally designed for, but for any long range shooting I would choose a .556 as consistent accuracy with a .300 kinda caps out around 300 yards or so. All depends on what I'm doing, but .300 has a good reputation for a reason

7.62 has more stopping power than .223/5.56 because its obviously a heavier round since .223/5.56 is a .22 caliber round with more powder. I will give you that those rounds have a higher accuracy rate and have a higher fps since that of the 7.62 since its lighter. Im just an AK guy, same with my Grandpa, he always bitched how his m16 was a pile of shit and would always jam in the middle of combat; he had to pick up a viet cong's AK in the middle of an intense firefight at khe sanh because his gun jammed 3 times after shooting 25 rounds. Granted that the platform has been improved over the years, I own both; 2 AK's, and AR and an SBR SKS, not gonna name all the handuns and other rifles i own. I love both platforms, I love any gun to be honest, they all do the same job. Also 5.45x39 is a pretty minty round but I can never find it for my 105.

We can't compare the reliability of AKs/ARs from 1968 with most of those currently available. On the same token, you're most likely to find a dogshit AK in the US unless you know what you're looking for; (I'm not saying I do) but the more I've been around I've learned that all AKs are not even close to being equal.

Cough cough wasr 10, i dont buy the american made AK's or parts everything Ive bought was eastern european surplus. I had bought some U.S. manufactured stripper clips for my SKS and the damn things woudnt even fit unless I filed the lip down and only 70% of em would accually work.

Lol .223/5.56 is a significantly bigger bullet than a .22. However, I can see where you're coming from with being an AK guy, they're known to be the most reliable weapon to ever be produced for a reason. Hell, I've only ever owned AR's but I'd love to buy an AK, and I will some day. 5.45 is a sweet round, shit's getting rare nowadays though.

Its easier to find online, cheaper than dirt sells 20, 30, and 60 round boxes of 5.45 for 6-12$ depending on how many rounds are in the box. I just dropped $190 on a 750 round package of Wolf 5.45, should last a while.
Aks are in general way more reliable than ars.
Ive seen vids of military m16s jamming so if a mil spec ar15/m16 cant compete with a good aks reliability, none of them can.

There are quality ak buying guides all over the web and on weapons chan. Its not too hard to find a wasr vepr or norinco ak47 that would never have a single reliability issue. Usa made aks are shit. Apparently the europe/usa engineer iq gap is even bigger for guns than it is for cars

But ya airguns are cool. I got a .22 phantom with some mods done to it. Great gun for squirrel and pest birds like English sparrows. You have to start spending high dollar if you want something powerful enough to put down a raccoon humanely (PCP airguns) and at that point burning powder is the way to go.
You cant beat the price of shooting airguns (0.5C/ round) and the quietness is also useful.

Nice. My gamo magnum has up to 29 ft pounds of energy at the muzzle. Ive seen people say they have killed wild boars with it. At 1300 fps in a 22 pellet, its just as powerful or more than any pcp rifle. Range is well over 100 yards too.

Hahaha true! This thread got me to look into airguns for the first time since 2nd grade though, so that's cool.
