Tramp skis

So I've got a real dumb idea on how to make tramp skis. I got an old waterlogged skate deck, could I just take the grip off, cut it in half vertically and duct tape some shoes to it? I have 145 skis from when I was little that are 100 underfoot but looking at people's tramp skis they seem too big

Oh and also I'd put duct tape or foam tape around the edges and sand the corners where I cut so I don't impale myself

I have done a very similar thing many years ago......... back in the late 80's(damn i am old) I had an old skate deck that i had my grandpa cut in half lengthwise, I tried to use the existing holes where the truck bolts on but this deck was an OLD deck and the holes werent where i needed them. I drilled new holes to center my foot position and just used some shoelaces to tie them to my feet and jump and spin. I would think now you could find some old baseless snowboard bindings and screw them to the skate deck and bam, you have a simple set up.

Sounds like it should work, if it doesn't try ductaping 2 pool noodles together and some old shoes on top, worked really well for me.

Should work too....... maybe even a binding off of a water ski, or just screw some stretchy rubber surgical tubing to the top of the deck allowing your shoe to slide under and keep your shoes in place, leave the grip tape on the deck. Just a few ideas.

That could work with the tubing, I've got bike tubes that I could cut, but how would you lock the heel?

Just be careful with the screw if you use it. If it goes through the deck it will rip the tramp really quickly. When I was a kid I did it to make a snowboard and duct tape was fine to lock the shoes on.

You could make another smaller strap with the tubing and just have it wrap around the heel to keep pressure on the heel to keep it to the board while having a strap over the top of the shoe. Just have to make sure they are short and stretchy to allow them to keep tension on the shoe and to the boards. You will probably have to try it a few different ways and angles to get the correct fitting and feeling but it should work.

From my experience wood doesn't tend to do so well on trampolines. It likes to absorb a lot of the bounce.
Pool noodles worked better for me on my second attempt but they were generally unstable.
Find something flat and stable yet flexible enough to not absorb the trampoline bounce.

I rocked to wooden yard sticks taped to my feet before. Light enough to still get some air but you have something on your feet and can grab them. Kind of ghetto but cost me nothing and I don't think either of them broke(although wouldn't have been surprised)

I think the lighter whatever you're using the better. It can already be hard to really boost on some tramps. Adding the awkwardness of something on your feet doesn't help, and if it's even a little bit heavy it just gets weird.

If you could find something made of a light plastic that's probably the best bet. Somewhat rigid but not adding much weight.

They’re all shitty designs. They all just restrict the amount of air you get and the feeling doesn’t imitate skiing well at all. I rolled the fuck out of my ankle trying the pool noodle design. I tried using actual old skis and boots at one point. I did a few shitty 3s and then put a big hole in the mat trying a backflip.

Tramp skis suck.

Tramp skis dont work. They too small to practice realistic grabs and you cant control them like regular skis because your ankle moves. They just make jumping harder. You can try but I wouldn't recommend.

Pool noodles aren't that light, real skis def aren't light. Idk I could still cork and flip with one of these bad boys tapes to each of my shoes. Didn't add any weight, although anything big you put on your feet will restrict you a bit.

When I had a tramp I cut a mini foam sled in half and zip tied shoes to it. Pretty floppy and bent alot but it worked.
