Detuning only inside edges

To a degree, yes, in terms of not catching an edge, because catching an outside edge is less likely (though I've definitely managed it). However, leaving an edge sharp makes them much more likely to crack, even an outside edge, and by not switching your skis from foot to foot, you are pretty much halving the lifespan of your edges.

From a technical perspective, when you're carving you should have the majority of your weight on your outside or downhill ski. This is why people do drills where the pick up the uphill ski when they turn as to put all there weight and induce the right feeling. If you detune the inside edge of your ski, you'll probably start putting weight on your uphill ski, meaning you'll have less grip (which sucks) which will put you in less control when you are skiing the rest of the mountain. The steeper terrain you get in where you need to get in a more aggressive ski stance (upper-body moving down the hill), the more this matters.

You might as well detune both edges because the differences between that and just having the inside edges detuned would be negligible and might be more detrimental to your skiing than without. At least if you fully detuned your edges your skis will feel consistent. Sorry for the rant!

I usually get like a 1.5º base bevel, which makes your skis ride more on the base, and lowers the likelihood of edge catches. I
also dull in front and behind my bindings with a file at like a 45º angle. Not completely ideal for all mountain carving, but it's 100% worth it to at least run a file under foot if you want to hit rails at all.
