-skian-It is barely even a quarter pipe hit. If it was an actual quarter pipe, he would have landed flat on top. The landing just makes it a jump basically. I am a big fan of David, but we all saw how much difficulty Simon had in actually getting back to land properly in the pipe, and he did an insane, steezy cork 9. In a quarter pipe you gotta land where you took off. Just my opinion though

CdalpraThis will get massively downvoted.
The record is for highest air, not highest air with a sweet trick, or highest air landing back on the same quarter.
It's simply, highest air.

MonnorCartinSo if at the very top of his air he landed would you still count it? Let's say the landing ramp went all the way up to 40ft. Would look stupid as hell and this argument wouldn't be happening.
VinnieFWell no, it's for highest air in a QP. He definitely took off from a QP, but he did not land in one.
If someone claimed 'largest backcountry hit' and the jump was a BC booter but the landing was machine built and groomed, would you say it counted?
FaunaSkisImma let David Wise finish, but JPV would have gone bigger.
We need you back JPV!
BiffbarfI'll respect the send, but -
Quarter pipes on skis are dumb anyways. Land and get pointed back up the hill? Whack
pinkcamo1000you need to watch some more ski videos from the 1999 - 2005 era, QPs are dope

SofaKingSicki don't agree that the landing "just makes it a jump basically" but it definitely changes the parameters. RECORDS aside, it's a great idea for a safer way to bomb QP hits
-skian-Sorry, I just meant it in a way that shows it is not a true QP. Obviously it still shoots you almost straight up, and you are skiing at a vertical wall to take off, but it still lacks something. So much risk is taken out when you aim to a different spot. Not only can he carve over, but he no longer has to focus on being exactly straight up. You can see that he is a good bit out onto what would be the flat of the pipe, as well as landing uphill (higher) than the pipe wall. We all saw how Simon landed on flats in an effort to be vertical, one of the main characteristics of pipe. So just shooting up knowing there will be a landing rather than flats, makes it easier to just mindlessly bomb at it. Again though, I have huge respect for this, I just do not think it is the same record as Simon's.
