shame, it was the only big air event i liked, for both skiers and snowboarders. but it was probably for the best, and im sure the slope will be doope.

Pro skiers asked for it…and we’ve delivered. This year’s World Skiing Invitational boasts the biggest Slopestyle competition Whistler has ever seen. Probably the skiers’ and the crowd’s favourite event, Slopestyle was added to the competition roster and promises a wicked display of technical tricks and silky smooth big airs.

The Slopestyle event features skiers tackling jumps, rails, boxes and hips while being scored on their style, amplitude, technical difficulty and overall impression. Hosted at Blackcomb Mountain’s Terrain Park, the Slopestyle competition will kick off with the Qualifier on Tuesday, April 12, followed by the finals on Thursday, April 14.



April 12: Slopestyle Qualifier
April 14: Slopestyle Finals / Superpipe Training
April 15: Superpipe Qualifier
April 16: Superpipe Finals & SuperHit Contest

slopestyle is waaay better. im glad they brought it back. hopefully it will end with a QP (like before) or even better, the wall ride. :)

world ski invitational, not open to anyone. im so glad its not big air, i just watched volume 11 and saw the footage and its sick, but come on, no one else is sick of switch 10? i happened to turn on ice skating and thats what they do, drop switch swing a foot and do gay spins. the only way they spin is switch. this trick is entirely over-rated,and im willing to say that once you get it, switch take off is easier than forward take off. things are gonna change i can feel it.

^ I agree oh so much with you! hitting jumps switch is very easy, the take off looks way cooler to people watching but the fact is you can style out your spin ten times as much if you hit the jump regular. there will be a qualifier for both events so it is open to everyone same format as the US Open with a small number of skeir pre qualified for the finals based on this years comps and last years WSI

whoever said that switch takeoffs are easy has never hit anything over a 10 foot table switch. you have proved your ignorance. also, i highly doubt you can throw switch 10s.

And get this, on the news the other day they did a big story about old people dropping dead from heat exhaustion. They urged my community to donate fans to keep them alive!! i think it was a poor idea too eliminate the big air from a spectator/drinkers point of view. the funnest night of the WSSF is the skier big air getting loser trashed trowing on the skin tight one piece ski suit and running around with a 2-6 of rye in your pocket. i am going to miss nights like those...............WSSF are you ready for another visit from wiener?

Ok, im not calling anyone a shit talker, im just saying I think the taking off switch is way less sketch atleast when spinning high spinning corks. Its easy as fuck to take off switch as long as you get used to high speed switch skiing. The first invert i ever did was a swich rodeo, maybe i just have a preference for switch. You guys shouldn't think that just because its your opinion its automatically right. Different people ski different ways.

im pretty sure its every pro skier and major competition judges opinion. theres a reason u see cab 10s beat straight 10s or switch cork 9s beat straight cork 9s in competitions...

60 open spots for Pipe qualifier 10 advance
30-45 open spots for Slopestyle Qualifier 10 advance

lets be honest the WSI 'Big Air' hasn't been 'BIG' since 2000 when they held it up above the roundhouse. 45-50 feet is not big enough to call it a 'Big' air, the fire and ice jump is almost that big every sunday! The Slopestyle is gonna rule, Whistler still holds the title for best Slopestyle course for a ski contest ever, and that was back in 2001, this year should be super sick.
