i see so many loc dawgs who can shred hard they either have good technical tricks or good style and a combination of both, not to mention the fact they always hit the right spots, hits the avid visitor never would have imagined. where is their recognition?! Why aren’t they pro yet, a lot of you know who I’m talking about, every mountain community has them.

Being pro is a function of skill and marketability. Every mountain has dudes who have all the skill but don't want to put forth the effort to be marketable.

Back at CU in 2009, we came up with a website dedicated to getting locals hooked up with recognition and sponsorships for a group project for
an Entrepreneurship class. Andrew Wickes originally came up with the idea and I helped him flush out the details. I should hit him up on this, I think he runs a liquor store in Aspen now and judges the occasional comp.

This is how I see it, You only Get Recognition if you bring it upon yourself. If you aint stepping outside the box, you don't deserve shit. But if you step out side of the box, and you function well outside, then you will be given what you deserve for your efforts. Some step out further than others, and generate more bc they deserve more. their efforts are worth more in an area of skiing that has a void, and so if they fit the void, you win.

In my mind I think the pros who are not big names but still get gear, discounts and are homies with the rest of the crew have it the best. They may have day job obligations and their sponsors don’t expect as much out of them as they would a big skier name such as Magnus. Like having a pt job

There's so many guys who rip super hard at grouse jonas yoman, the sgv guys (though a lot of them are snowboarders), all of the chef boyarde boys. Especially the boyarde guys and nick they have some really sick stuff here on ns and on insta too
