SwervemanguyJust curious if any skiers have picked up skate boarding and have felt there skiing has improved because of it. Maybe it helps with balance maybe just cuts the fear of injury down. Like to hear thoughts.
DominatorJacquesI roller skated for many years. Sure it helps. Anything for balance.
buyfulltiltsBlading is probably much more similar tho
pbsthis is what we call #BDE
DemillstaGetting a foot of air on a mini ramp is scarier than 15 feet of air on skis
DesertStixI’ve never really thought of this but I agree...why? Because our board isn’t strapped to our feet like skis?
JemsCj pull up to the ep skate park with the boys more
shin-bangHonestly mountain biking has helped me
get a bit more comfortable with fear. I’m able to conquer jumps and tricks a bit better that scare me. I feel like it’s easier to get hurt biking though cus there’s no snow to pad your fall.
skiguy04I have picked up yo-yo and tech deck ; recommended for skiing big time! so this next season I’m gonna be learning so many new tricks
Andy03I'm not sure if you will be getting better if you do that. I do downhill skateboarding but for a long time I was really scared of some skiing stuff, I was much better on a snowboard. Last year i started to ski again and after 2 months my natural habitat was the park. But I was scared to jump on rails a long time. I think the benefit is that you know your body and become better really fast but it will not help you if you are scared.
Edit: but I think we are all adrenaline junkies and skateboarders are too. And what can you do really easy to get your dailie dose of adrenaline? Go skateboarding ;)

FinitoI once knew a guy who almost went pro skating. He had no fear at all and on his third day on skis he was hitting Rainbowrails etc like it's nothing.
So clearly overcoming fear and commitment are key factors you can adapt from other sports.
X_ANKILLAMountain Biking Has Helped Me with Fuckin Flowin through Trees Soooo Much
JemsMountain biking is the scariest fucking sport hands down

skiguy04Downhill rollerblading on 110’s, bones Swiss ceramics bearings with a street full of potholes, rammed full of moving traffic and telephone poles, bus shelters, fire hydrants, garbage bins and moving pedestrians all on the sidewalk and you got yourself a rodeo trying to skate fakie hill bombing through all that
hubbardsthis is fact
if you have a bad fall it would be a miracle if you didnt break at least a bone
I wonder how many people die mtn biking a year
buyfulltiltshttps://www.newschoolers.com/videos/watch/931383/Caliber-Truck-Co--Featuring-Quentin-GachotThis is skateboarding but it's the same kinda thing, I call it a "San Francisco hill bomb". Insane how he's easily ollieing over shit going probably 20mph or something. It's akin to skiing down a groomer and jumping off rollers and side hits and stuff.
Downhilling on a street with traffic and pedestrians is just too dangerous and unpredictable to do imo though.

Expected that answer from 99% of newschoolers.
too afraid to crash on concrete
TripleXLHoodiesI got soap shoes for 2 days and now I can triple. That's some solid proof imo
Andy03Tried to blading this summer and it was awesome. And back in the downhill skateboarding game after a 2-year injure break. I love it xD
DIRTYBUBBLEIt really helps in my experience. The learning curve is hard as fuck but if you stick with it it’s a great tool for getting better at line choice, balance, etc. Try skating every day you can this summer. You’ll look at features differently when ski season comes around.
tahoearmada20yes.
sliding rails on a skateboard makes sliding rails on skis feel like a joke
DolanReloadedAbsolutely op. Rollerblading will help more, but skateboarding develops core strength and improves balance and muscle synergy.
Andy03Well, I have more muscle hangover if I was in the miniramp with blades than with a skateboars. Especially abs. And both legs getting strong, not only your back foot.

MsteuryI’ve been ice skating since I was 4 I’m 23 and I went skiing for the first time last winter, instantly hooked!!!!! And it felt very familiar so I definitely believe ice skating helped. Do anything that requires balance.
Hats off to you skaters u guys rock!!!!!!!
