Replying to Inside the lives of NS: Book 1
This is my first short story that I whipped up in a night and I'll probably do more in the future. They will all be based on true events, like this one. I hope you enjoy.

Lonely quickly skips up the steps to his friends house and stops face to face with the door. With a quick turn of the knob he is instantly teleported to the care free world of social intoxication and loud music. He is greeted by his friends who offer him drinks and warm greetings. Curious as to who is present at this party he quickly scans the room. His heart seems to stop, a flash of cold shoots through his body as if his blood had turned to ice, and his knees begin to shake. "damn she's cute" He mutters softly to himself. Without taking his eyes off her, he leans into his friend and asks him if he's ever seen her before. "Oh ya man, I know she friends with my girlfriend but that's pretty much it." This was enough for Lonely. He looks down, focuses on his Hamm's for just a second... then begins to make his way. At first he's fumbling with his words, struggling to form sentences, so distracted by her beauty, he's become completely infatuated. The first few minutes of casual repartee turn to hours and the conversation finally shifts to skiing.
"Oh ya my boyfriend takes me skiing all the time!"
Time stops. The earth seems to drop out from underneath him. As quickly as he fell in love, he finds his heart broken... She continues explaining how he first convinced her to try it and what not, but to him her voice becomes muffled and quickly fades completely to nothing. He lets her finish her though, politely ends the conversation, then quickly retreats to an open spot on the couch. His mind is filled with thoughts and feelings of confusion, apathy, and self loathing.
Time begins to pass again...
He snaps out of a trance as his ride slowly comes to a stop. He thanks the driver and gets out of his Lyft, unlocks the front door to his house, closes it behind him and stands alone in his kitchen. After shuffling off to bed he again finds himself alone. In bed alone again. So jaded, so sick, so...
Lonely.
