What’s up with everyone hating on rossi? Just curious cause I’m thinking about buying a pair and see great reviews on blister but terrible ones here on ns.

They're just considered dad skis or powder skis for people who ski one week a year. NS doesn't like easy skis built for the masses very much.

They are such a boring ski. There is hardly anything exciting about them. If you want a dope Rossi ski the only one youre after is the BlackOps.

What do you guys recommend for an all mountain ski? Skiing mostly at lake Louise and whitefish. Back bowls, moguls, glades, and some groomers at the local hill. I’m too scared to drop cliffs rn, but would like to learn. Sadly I live too far away from the mountains and won’t be able to get to a demo day.

Are there skis you've owned or skied that you particularly liked or disliked? Weight and height?

The real reason why NSers hate soul 7s

1. They are the out of towner jerry rental ski of choice, and as I am not an out of towner rental jerry I don't like them
2.Graphic has no steeze
3. Everyone who actually skis knows that ski and that usually anyone on them doesn't ski well
4.this list is all a bunch of conformist bullshit, everyone expresses themselves differently by wearing the exact same thing and if you want the skis get them
5.i will preemptively judge you for skiing them but dont let that bother you

they're just kind of dad skis. that might be your thing, it might not.

don't take NS's collective opinion on anything too seriously though. half this site thinks Line and Full Tilt are like elite products lol

The Soul 7 are a very light, soft ski that is perfect for newbies in areas where they get a lot of snow. The problem is they are too light, too soft and have too much front rocker to be decent on harder groomers, at higher speeds or for a harder charging expert.
Perfect powder rental ski for beginners and that’s why they are used by so many places out west for that purpose. So they have the rep of a wide rental ski or Dad ski as those are the perfect “easy to ski powder” ski for them.

Whenever I see a ski video and the skier has them on, you can pretty much guarantee shit is not going to go down on that video. Lol

Lots of great skis in that width that would be easy to ski but have more of a backbone than the Soul 7. My Nordica Enforcer Free 104 would be perfect for a daily driver at the places you ski. Can rip groomers at speed but playful and easy to ski the back bowls off Paradise Chair or tree runs off the Lake Louise Poma Lift. Wildcat 108 or Mindbender 108Ti would also be worth considering in that width.

Decent ski and good value but a little soft flexing and light for my tastes. Would be a great 50/50 ski because of its light weight and with it’s longer turn radius, it’s decent for it’s weight in crud.
Find the Bent 100 like the Blizzard Rustler 10 in that they are both fun, playful skis but wish they were heavier for better groomer and crud performance.

The Enforcer 104 is just that-fun and playful yet heavy enough to haul through crud or tracked up powder. Carves VERY well for a twin yet pivots on a dime in tight spots.

I think thats a pretty general call, lots of people are skiing stiff full cambered skis in the park, that make the bentchetler look mega soft. noodles have only really become popular in the last 6 or 7 years.

Huge range of flex in all ski types including park skis and agree it depends on what you’re used to. If you’re used to BDogs then any ski is stiff in comparison vs someone on a Volkl Wall/Revolt 87 which are stiffer than almost all powder skis.

Depending on your weight/ability/style of skiing/where you ski etc will determine what ski the OP/anyone may like in terms of flex, weight etc in a ski.

If you are lighter and ski slower in soft snow, you might like softer, lighter skis. But when things get roughed up and your speeds increase, you’ll appreciate a heavier and stiffer ski more especially if you have the body weight to properly flex them.

So I’d still much prefer a Bent 100 or Rustler 10 for any skier over the Soul 7 as both would perform much better all mountain. I’d add the Line SFB and Sickday 104 in there too for fun, easy to ski wider skis that perform well in all conditions.

Ok. I’m coming for the 2016 Tom Wallisch Pros. I don’t remember what the length was (they broke so they got thrown away). I am 6 feet and 145. I think I want a 171 just because I like a shorter ski and don’t go too fast.

The most of the ns seem to have the same feelings about marker griffons

I use them there good for me.

They also want you to ride the longest skis on the market

do you........ and take there advice not so seriously It’s helpful but not perfect

if you like em get em. Id say try them first if you can Then decide

TW Pro is a great ski and similar flex to the skis that I’d recommend. The length of 171cm is shorter than I’d advise for your size especially if you’re still growing. The wider skis will have more rocker, so will ski shorter plus the fact that they are light weight so will be easy to whip around still.

In the Rustler 10, I’d go 180cm and maybe 178cm on the Line SFB. Think you’d like either one as they are fun and playful but not noodles. Would be perfect for Lake Louise conditions and your skiing style.

If you’re looking to buy this Spring, Corbetts.com has a sale on now on the SFB for $479.99 Canadian and Rustler 10 with Griffons for $610 Canadian. Not sure if they have the 180cm in the Rustler 10(phone to see) but still showing stock on the SFB in 178cm.

Thanks for the advice. The rustlers sound great. Would the 11 be too wide? They have the 11 in a 180 but the 10 is sold out. If it’s too wide I might just go with the 172 10s. I’m not super into charging so I don’t think the smaller size would effect me too much.

I’d still call to see about the 180cm Rustler 10 as they might have it in stock somewhere at Corbetts. Oberson has the 180cm for $525 without bindings so not as good of a deal but maybe they will price match as they are Canadian too. 🤷‍♂️
Worst case the 172cm Rustler 10 would still be a great ski, just not as stable as the 180cm would be.

To continue on the Soul 7 specifically, it is funny why it even exists in the first place. The whole 7 line up doesn't seem to really fit. The Sky 7 is too narrow to be a dedicated powder ski, yet it is too noodly on groomers. The Soul 7 is the same yet slightly better in powder and slightly worse on groomers and the Super 7 is pretty good in powder and typically shitty on groomers. It is almost as if the Sky and the Soul shouldn't really exist.

On top of all the reasons already here, it's a shitty ski (at least in my opinion it is). Rossi got super lazy and made that whole range (Sin, Soul, Super, blahblah). The reason that people like them is because theyre stupid soft and insanely easy to ski, which is why they earn so much attention from older skiers and rental shops. It doesnt ski hard on groomers and it doesnt float in pow so personally I dont get what Rossi was trying to do with it
