Frame Bindings for park skiing

wanting to get into a little bit of backcountry, wondering if it is a bad idea to still ski some rails and jumps if I put frame bindings on my Rocker2s

It's not like they'll spontaneously burst into flames, but the additional stack height and weight won't be doing you any favours. If a second setup is out of the question, you could look into CAST or Daymakers, or a Quiver Killer/Binding Freedom mount with inserts for both pairs of bindings.

i would say no dont do it. especially on rails. if you disaster or something onto a rail literally all the force of the rail is going directly into the frame of the binding. you will wear them out and risk breaking something plus theyre not that fun with all the extra weight as well.

Go cast system or daymakers. i run daymakers and love them and didnt want to drop even more cash on the cast system if i wasnt using it every weekend or so. my friend has the cast system and he loves it, but its just a bit more pricey and technical.

False. Cast does not require 18 din. Sth2 in a cast setup is also an option thus giving us 13 and 16 din options. If you’re running pivots, then yes you have to use the 18s. We shouldn’t always assume pivots are the only option

not false. current cast generation works only with pivot 18 (or pivot 15 if you could find it)

Now that you added “current” cast generation yes.

However they are definitely still out there and nearly bought a pair off ksl for myself

Don't do it, myself along with plenty of my ski buddies have broken frame bindings from taking enough big stomps off of cliffs and booters in the backcountry (well, and resort, but not in the park). Unfortunately frame bindings don't have the same level of durability as regular alpine bindings, I would just buy daymakers or save up for a park setup
