I'm in the process of upgrading my aging gear and need to make a decision on my old skis. They are Volkl SuperSport 6-Star with Marker Motion bindings from circa-2003 (I think). Despite being older with many years of use, they are in good condition cosmetically and have been maintained, but the bindings are beyond what a ski shop will function test. In addition, my new boots are not compatible (I need a MNC binding now). So my question is - now what? Do I run them with my old boots like everything is fine and risk injury if they don't release correctly, or is it time to ditch them if the binding can't be replaced? Is there a method to function test at home?
From what I've been able to gather, the Motion is a system binding, so there is no possibility to replace the binding. Is this accurate? To be compatible with my new boots, I would need to be able to mount a MNC binding.
I would not feel good selling them or giving them away due to the binding issue, so I'm trying to determine the best path forward.
Thanks!
