PArkciTyutardWhat do y’all think of this shit? We can ski til June if we wanted cause the resort still has more snow than they know what to do with... hghSGHGTSJKJKLJHJGHJGHHH vail

eheathlawl park city is NOT on national forest, it is all privately owned.
That being said, Vail isn't making any money in april, you really that surprised?
druseph33Its a financial thing: after April the majority of people coming are season pass holders; so right there that't tons of missing ticket revenue.
Not to mention a ton of the resorts hire international workers who are in school or traveling to work here and they typically go home when the winter/spring is over.
Just doesn't seem financially smart to do for most resorts
DeebieSkeebiesAll valid points already made, this was announced like in late october too. Its not a shock too much.
I think theyre also still a bit upset over the Booze Cruise and that 4/20 closing day a few years back
eheathHonestly I think it has nothing to do with that, Vail closes all of their resorts pretty early usually, see Keystone closing on april 7th too.

evaroniOften wondered how insurance contracts are structured for ski resorts. Do they buy insurance for the months they operate? Days? Anybody know? I’d imagine that is a huge contributor to season length for some resorts.

roddy116major downfall of being a local in a tourist ski resort.
eheathI mean, sure another week of skiing at PC would be great, brighton/alta/snowbird will be open through april, its not like we can't go skiing.
skiermanOh sorry...
Another jackass n00b that doesn't know how leases work.
There, fixed it.
eheathPark City runs year round with biking, alpine coaster, zipline, etc so im sure they are covered all year.

suupcorrect me if im wrong, but didn't vail get park city because the old pcmr owners didn't renew their lease for the national forest land?
eheathYou're thinking of the private lease they had with the company that owns the land, talisker, not the forest service. Vail aquired the lease from talisker and then bought PC.
PeppermillRenoIt’s lame. They can shut the lodges and run half the lifts. The mountain closing is why there will be no money being spent.
I think season pass holders should feel entitled to and demand lifts spinning until the snow is gone. Do they give you a refund when it’s a bad season and there’s no snow?
DeebieSkeebiespre-vail takeover, this is what PC and The Canyons would do; all the dining options and a few lifts get shut down for the year.
For bad snow years, I worked in lodging all last season and lots of places including myself were giving out credits for peoples vacations due to shitty snow but nothing really for locals at all for their passes.
