Skiing in ‘Walk Mode’ on your boots

I ski in apex boots, it's permanent walk mode. I took a spill today and now i'm in permanent roll mode

I did get punished for skiing my tour rig off lifts but honestly that extra bowl off to the right of chair 4 at kirkwood is so bomb and there is no hike out that’s why I flew with my skins.

I've done it a few times having forgotten to flip tthe switch. On my boots it just feels a little loose and like a 80 or 90 flex boot.

PeppermillRenoI had a big crash ob at Kirkwood yesterday and when I got up one of my boots was broken. The walk mode thing broke and basically that boot can only do walk mode.

Actually had an amazing day today skiing in full walk mode. Forced me to lean into my turns on groomers and keep my weight forward. Went into Mott canyon and nailed the technical lines because I had no choice but to keep my weight way forward.

Don’t think it’s good news for soft conditions hopefully we get pow and I report back tomorrow how they ski on fatter skis with it being super easy to lean way the fuck bad.


This has been good for my technical skiing especially bumps.

From a Cochise owner, how tf did you do that without blowing your Achilles?

It is a tour boot too but skis great inbounds. When I tried on everything it didn’t have the most flexible walk mode which is obviously a good thing now I gotta ski it rest of the trip.

Was purchased under 12 months ago warranty should be straight and it didn’t take long to break in and feel good maybe 3 days. I like the boot.

I think the little rope that you tug to go from walk to ski got caught on a tech bonding part I got dynafit beast 16s during the fall it was gnarly like 10 summer saults I was in no fall Zone and landed a cliff but didn’t see a wind load that threw me off and I went all the way down.

Binders didn’t eject.

Yeah Squaw too, always a big line for the gondola or tram and not enough beginner terrain. Do not go there!
