the is alot fo fake absinthe all over the place. throught the mountains of spain and in some places in portugal they still brew absinthe with wormwood which is the shit that makes you trip out. I drank it abunch in spain. one time in barcelona we were hanging out with this guy who just got back from portugal and he had some stuff that really fucked you up. i would say having 5 or so shots made me feel like i was really coked out super drunk and a bit of a zoomers thing going on. pretty crazy. the fake stuff is just 70% and fucks you up pretty bad.

they didnt take it out... absinthe is made by soaking an herb called wormwood and some others for flavor in a strong alcohol such as everclear then redistilling it. Wormwood is the herb that conatains thujone which is the compound that is supposed to make you hallucinate. They made absinthe legal to sell in europe and canada given a certain legal thujone content of about 10mg/kg (not very much) it can be made with up to 35mg/kg (alot more). So the more it has the more it fucks you up... so if you buy the legal stuff it wont do too much... just fuck you up because it is usually about 80% or 160 proof liqour which will fuck you up no matter what. I actually made a gallon of absinthe with a high thujone content about a month ago... as for hallucinating.. it doesnt happen.... but it does get you a really different kind of drunk... so you feel sort of high at the same time... and realy realy mellow and chill. I would recommend it. tastes like shit though. You can buy absinthe kits off the internet with premixed herbs you soak in everclear. Its better if you redistill it after soaking them but you dont have to because its a pain in the ass.

^ everclear will get you done quick. i beleive its 190 proof or around that for anyone who doesnt know. same deal tastes like shit unless you mix it very lightly. picked up a handle when i went to chill w. my friend at Emory in Atlanta(they dont sell it where i goto school in VA or at home in MD). we found this liquor store with a freaking drive through and walked out w. 5 handles of everclear and enough other shit to rack up a $300 bill. ah man college is fun.

o sorry i wasnt responding to your post i was just making a side note about it for people who dont know too much about it since its not available in every state

all i know is my college is about 20 min. away from canada, and the bars up there sell if for 10 bucks a shot. ridiculous if you ask me
