SLVSH Cup Grand Valira Betting Bracket

With the gv slvsh brackets out, I'm starting a paypal betting pool on this.

How to enter
Entry fee is $5, pm me for a money pool link. After you send the money, you will PM me a picture of the entire bracket mapped out. You can do this on slvsh.com, take a screenshot and then send it to me.

Scoring
is as follows:
- 1st rounds correct predictions are 1 point
- 2nd round correct predictions are 2 points
- semi-finals correct predictions are 3 points
- finals correct prediction is worth 4 points.
- Correct bracket prediction (whos facing who) from semis and on will score you an additional point

*Note that in order to score the points, you DO NOT have to correctly predict both players playing within the bracket. For example, if i had Quinn Wolferman winning against Birk but it was Oystein that he actually plays and that Quinn wins, then I still score 3 points

Prize Pool
Based on the number of entrants, the prize pool and number of winners will change.
5 People (minimum) - winner takes all ($25)
10 people - 1st: $35 2nd: $15
15 people - 1st: $45 2nd: $20 3rd: $10
20 people - 1st: $50 2nd: $25 3rd $15 4th: $10
and so on...

Tiebreakers
Before the final match, if two or more players are tied for the lead (and have the same predictions [including non-playing positions]) they are required to submit to me their score prediction for the final. Whoever is the closest wins in terms of the letters received for the two finalists.

Technically a GrandValira local could watch the games unfold live and know who won before the games actually drop online. You may want to try and figure out when the games will take place to set an earlier deadline.

I know it's a bit of a stretch and no more than 5 dudes will probably enter it, but who knows, if it ends up being a big stack of money you want to avoid any possible controversy.

Bro read the thread again, it's a bracket betting meaning you have to submit the entire bracket before the first game drops.

Right but all the games are pre recorded. The most recent game was posted 3 days ago from a summer camp session. So it could already be over now and when they were popping bottles at the bottom with the top 3 someone could have easily identified who they were. It’s not like basketball where it’s televised live.

Super dope idea though and I am into it!

Sometimes they record and edit on the same day. They just have a bank of those summer camp ones to drop when there's nothing else.

Most games they do prerecorded but on slvshcup they're on that shit daily

Regardless, there will always be a delay between when the game happens, and when it drops online. My point is just that to avoid any possible controversy, the deadline should be set before the game happens, and not before it drops.

It seems like minimal coordination with SLVSH could resolve this whole debacle. They may wanna have a portion of the pool but it would be worth it. They may not wanna be a part of it and still be cool and realease the brackets and the time of the first game so they can be submitted properly. If it was in such a form I would be way down to throw in some dough. Wouldn’t even mind if some went to administration fees on making a legit platform that shows everyone’s score and where you are ranked and is real transparent on each persons bracket.

This pool is for the entire slvsh cup and it locks when the first game drops. Meaning that even if (and thats a big if) someone was able to see the result of the first game, it will have very little effect on the overall outcome of the pool because you are effectively betting on 15 matches.

Our plan is to close the brackets before the first game is filmed. Also, we will have a simple scoring system in place. Stoked you guys are doing this.

My understanding was that the submission phase for this would be over when SLVSH would lock the bracket, which they indicated in this thread would be before the first game even took place. This was a perfect plan to keep things clean.

Now I see that you are still accepting submissions today from people through excel even though the bracket was locked days ago on SLVSH, which means games have been happening for days now. Let me reiterate my previous point that someone on-site in Grand Valira could see the games live and now the actual results of a bunch of games by now, therefore cheating on their bracket if they submitted one now.

The original assumption was that the games will be dropped sequentially (filmed/edited/released on same day). Now that we know that is not the case, you make a very good point (although very low in chance) and I am closing the bracket. There are currently two entries that were submitted after the brackets locked. One I'm confident won't be cheating and one that I will be removing from the pool and that person will get refunded the money.

I said it in another thread but I have a conspiracy theory! Haha

*note: spoiler alert if you haven’t seen game 1*

The winner of Jesper v Emil plays the winner of Vinny v Oscar. Vinny was reffing the first game so he has a bias on who he rather battle in round 2 which was Emil. So there were some loose calls that were allotted to Emil because he was on defense. When Jesper was on defense he was getting much more critical calls. The 2 wildest calls were Emil reverting out of the backflip and of course the game ender where Emil’s ski is dragging while still on the rail. I mean I lost that game but I have Vinny taking the cake in my bracket so it’s cool.

Regardless of my conspiring, this field is stacked! Can’t wait to see the rest of the games and hopefully take yo money!
