Binding Heel Tab Broke - Critical or Not?

So on my old Jesters the tab of the heelpiece you step on to click in snapped off almost at its base. Didn't notice until after the day of skiing, and didn't have any issues riding. I can still click in by stepping on the little nub that's left.
Anyone had this happen and if so, thoughts whether it's still good to ride? My thought is that once I'm in I should be good?
I think the most disconcerting part is if that particular piece just crumbled for no reason, who knows how the rest of the binding is doing. They're basically 10 years old at this point.

I'd definitely agree with your last point there. You can go to a shop and get them release tested with your boot which can offer some valuable peace of mind. Assuming they pass all the tests I'd say you're probably fine to keep riding them. Lots of first-gen Jesters and Dukes still out there on the slopes with zero issues.
