I crashed into a snowboarder a couple of times before

Came off a rail last week landed switch and some gaper skid right behind me, fckin bodied her and ended up hurting my neck.. she was all good but I don't know what the fck she was thinking.

Had a Jerry hit me resulting in an hospital visit as the crash resulted in a torn MCL. This was my second day riding after finally coming back from a knee reconstruction -_-

Some lady at eldora wriggity wrecked me a few weeks back. She was way in front of my skiing across the hill, than before I knew it she had somehow launched a ski at me and took out my legs. I still don't really know what happened, but i cut up my whole arm on her rentals. Could've been a season ender or worse.

was skiing with two friends from my school and they arent that good they both hit my pretty bad one time got launched of a cat track but I didn't make a big deal about because I was crushing pretty hard

Jerry was skiing normally, as i went for a cliff that was a drop to the right of the run, the kid swerves (Not sure if intentional) hard. I went off and when seeing the kid under neath me I twisted in to a pretzel causing me to like twist rotate in air. I endded up doing this weird ass half cork tail tap offa the kids helmet. (Low key sick) but the parent didn't under stand that i almost killed my self not destroying their son.

Never crashed into anyone before. Had some really really close calls, but never even so much as brushed another skier; always leave enough room to scrub speed. If icy, then leave more room. ... Although, almost crashed into my dad, trying to spray him and got too close one time. I always assume people will do something wrong. Since the person below ALWAYS has the right of way, you gotta assume they'll cut you off. Also look before you drop and have someone giving you a go/all clear sign. It's not that difficult guys. I've seen way too many skiers and boarders do some risky shit passing kids and beginners on green traverse trails while going fast af. Or on blues that are 50yds wide; there's space, did you really need to ski 2ft away from that guy???

If lift crashes count, then I have numerous stories of jerries almost crashing into me on or getting off a lift.

I was standing at the top of the park looking at the rail I was about to hit, I saw a guy skiing beside it and I thought no big deal I’ll hit it he won’t be in the way. The second I hit it he goes and stops in front of the rail and yells at me for hitting it.

Not exactly a Jerry crash but a while back I was just skiing down at a slow pace so I wouldn’t lose my friend who wasn’t a very proficient skier and out of nowhere I get absolutely obliterated from behind by this guy going Mach 5. I got double ejected and when I stood up I realized it was an older gentleman so I rushed over to help him. I took his skis off and told him to lay straight on his back and not move. My friend got patrol while I stayed with the man who had hit me. The whole time he’s screaming at me how it’s my fault but I knew he was in a lot of pain so I just kept my mouth shut and waited for patrol

Turns out he was an ex-Canadian Olympic skier and he broke his femur. Still makes me cringe. But the accident was his fault as he hit me from behind and I was not stopped or cutting him off or anything so at least I can sleep at night.

Well he threatened to sue me while he was down but he never did. I sent him a get well soon card a week after and I’ve never heard from him or his family again.

I largely avoid Jerries and give them the benefit of the doubt. Hey, we were all learners at some point and I always appreciate anyone who wants to get a day on the hill, no matter their skill level.


But holy fuck is it funny/satisfying when you have a near miss and then turn around further down the trail to see them on the ground /causing a pile-up while you effortlessly cruise away.

My first ski run ever off the bunny hill when I was 4 or 5 a snowboarder hit my mom and broke her femur. The best part was this was like 1996 or 1997 so she couldn't get ahold of my Dad so I got to "lap" the "blue" on the face of the mountain. Felt like a total badass.

If I do end up taking out someone it's going to be a racer, not sure if they count as jerries, but nearly all of my close calls always seem to involve them. They either don't expect that someone will be as fast as them so they'll arc a carve all the way to the tree line directly into the side of you, or they think it's funny to treat other skiers as slalom gates and will speed from behind you and then turn directly in front of you. They also think it's great to do speed laps through the park and side hit the rail wedges even if someone is on already on that feature. It's terrifying to be sliding a rail and have a team of racers riding like missiles by you, jumping rail wedges and weaving features unpredictably. I always just have to stop in the middle of my run and let them go by because they have no respect for people actually using the features. They have a whole section of the mountain cordoned off for their race course, I say if they get to put people at risk skiing the park inappropriately I should get to ski their race course inappropriately too.

On a slightly unrelated note the vail slow areas are one of the scariest places to ride, since as a park skier if you are going faster than anyone else at all you'll get yelled at, but if you're a rich looking white old man you're allowed to go however fast you want. Which means you as a park skier are at a high risk of getting hit by said old man when you slow down for the slow zone. I got sideswiped pretty hard by an old guy racing up behind me who offered no apology and happily skied off all because I slowed down for a slow zone. Of course the yellow jackets were no where to be found, not that they would've taken my side even had they seen the incident.
