Replying to Shop Mounted My Skis Wrong... AGAIN
I’m so frustrated. I just bought a brand new pair of 2019 ON3P Kartel 108’s and I was so excited to ski them late season. I called around to all the local shops to see who could do them overnight. Utah Ski and Golf in SLC told me they’d overnight mount em. I went in, excited to get my skis ready to thrash. Coming from the east coast (shop people aren’t usually very well accustomed to park skis), I was trying to the shop guys what I wanted. The guy behind the counter basically told me that I was an idiot because I said “most ski manufacturers mark the recommended mark points AND true center of the ski” and he told me that ON3P isn’t most ski brands, so they don’t mark those things. I explained to him that the side wall marks are the recommended mount place, NOT true center. I told him I wanted my skis mounted exactly 2.5 behind true center, and the guy said don’t worry, I’ll do whatever you want man. I was excited. I went back the next day to get my skis, and when I got home, I noticed that the bindings looked rather far back on the ski. I put a boot in, and guess where the marks line up. 2.5 BEHIND THE RECOMMENDED MOUNT LINE! I’m pissed because I SPECIFICALLY told the guy, the mark on the sidewall is NOT CENTER. And he mounted them behind the mark!!! I had these skis in mind for a all mountain/park ski, and now I have no idea how these things are going to be. I’ll just go ski them and see how they feel. I’m just so upset with shop techs that don’t listen. This is the second time a tech has messed up my mounting on brand new skis. The last time they buy the screws in too far and separated the base from the ski. I’m starting to think that it would be well worth the risk to start mounting by myself, that way I won’t complain for it getting messed up. What should I do boys???
