Is waxing skis worth it?

I haven’t waxed in 7+ years. I have no problems. When my skis were waxed I never noticed a difference. I ride park, I’m not racing. Convince me I need waxing.

I also have a brand new pair that just got mounted sitting in the shop. Now is the time.

Waxing is the biggest conspiracy in the industry. Why would you melt wax in your skis just to scrape it off. Its all a hoax perpetuated by the big wax conglomerates that took a financial hit when the electric candle became popular.

Yeah those look super dry haha, if you're cool with going slow don't bother but if you properly wax I promise you will go faster

Yea they look like an abused iced rink. They ride good though, I never have speed issues.

You put identical skis, one waxed the other not, next to each other on the same trail. The waxed ones will be faster. You just might not notice it cuz that's all you've ever known.

Yes, waxing is cheap, easy, lets your skis know you love them even if you beat them.

Try waxing once and you’ll be like holy shit it’s so fast and slippery. You’ve just gotten used to your not waxed skis.

yes. wax them. you haven't noticed a difference because your skis have gotten slower so gradually. your bases will last longer too with waxing. However if you had a pair of skis last 7 years maybe you dont ski enough to need waxing.

15 - 25 days per year. I’ve never had a pair last more than 3 seasons.

How are you not swayed by the “your skis will go faster” argument? You’ve never wished you were going faster, ever? Do you ski on a vertical hockey rink with no flats whatsoever?

Your skis will also be more predictable and turn more smoothly. Waxed skis initiate turns better and basically just do everything better. Buy an iron and a bar of wax for like 30 bucks it’s very worth it

Necessary imo. Don't have a good place to wax currently and took my touring skis which I haven't waxed in like a year out today and was forced onto the shaded aspects because otherwise snow stuck to the bases like glue

I never wax my skis either, they seem to do fine. Yea, you can feel 'em draggin ass on flatter spots but leaning in or skating a couple pushes while skiing is less of a pain in the ass than fucking around with waxes . Plus when your ski is eventually ruined you get to get a new pair of skis.

I would say no if your PARK skis only lasted a season. However, yours lasted seven years so wax. Besides, its easier to scrub speed then gain speed.

Ye waxing for the first time in a while is like riding in a Tesla for the first time. Accelerate so quick your bain about hits the back of your skull.
