Moment PB&J vs. Atomic Bent Chetler 100

PB&J, it's built better and skis better. The Bent 100 feels super weak and I hated my sample pair on super hard pack snow which is what I imagine east coast skiing is like.

Can't say I've ridden the Atomic but I've been riding the PB&J for 3 winter seasons (2 Canadian, 1 Australian). Love the ski ridden it all over the mountain in a ton of different conditions (ice, groomers, pow, sun, snow and rain) and its performed amazingly! The boys at Moment are great as well.

I don't think they're very similar skis really.

While I totally grant that you may prefer the feel of the PB&J over the Bent 100 (everyone has their own tastes), I don't think you can make the claim that Bent has an inferior build quality. I won't claim to say that it's better than the PB&J, but it's worth noting that the Bent 100 is handmade here in Austria, where each ski is individually weighed, individually hand-flexed and then hand-paired with its perfect mate. This factory is also responsible for all of Armada's skis, the vast majority of Black Crows', lots of Faction's and Kastle's skis. Build quality is what we are known for.

One thing I will say about how the Bent 100 skis is that it skis really short for its length. If you normally ski something around 180, you need to ski the 188. Every length feels and skis much shorter than how they measure and this for sure plays a role in how the ski behaves. I'm on the 188 which is super fun, but it could even be a little longer for me.

Looking for something that does well in powder, can hold an edge on hardpack, and can do well in chopped up snow.

Pb&j will rip chop

PBJ hands down

From the East and had the PB&J. Very good for it’s weight through crud and decent in softer snow but not great on harder snow and ice as it has a decent amount of rocker that has to be detuned, so the effective edge isn’t super long. Powder float not great for it’s width and seemed grabby in tracked snow so I replaced them with the new Nordica Enforcer Free 104. The Nordica is heavier but that’s what gives it insane crud performance that vastly outperforms the PB&J with way better float too. Can run the E 104 sharp tip/tail so it’s awesome on hard East Coast snow yet doesn’t feel like a wide ski on the groomers. Mounted them +2cm and it’s perfect for a playful all mountain charger.

The new Moment Wildcat 108 would be closer in performance to it but I’d wager the E104 would outperform it in the East Coast and be similar in the West.

Another ski to consider would be the Fisher Ranger 102FR with the mount moved up a bit. Similar to the Enforcer 104 Free but lighter and a bit stiffer.

Bent 100 is a similar profile to the PB&J but softer flexing and even lighter so a great 50/50 ski but not a crud buster. Performs well for it’s weight though.

I bought BC 100 188 before season began. Have 24 days on them. Live in Japan so a lot of soft snow. My take on them is

Awesome in powder for their width, surprisingly awesome on early morning frozen groomers, edge hold is very good and they fun and have good energy.

Good on soft chop, bad in refrozen chop. Great for jumping

In the east(I used to live in Toronto) they wil do very well in the morning not so much in the afternoon. In the east in general I think skis with metal that are heavier is a better bet.

I also found a good deal on the moment commander 108's. I know its quite a different ski form the other PBJ's and Bent Chetlers, but what do you guys think about them.
