Small Shitty Mountains With Charm(+Night Skiing, Park Scene)
That mtn that does as much business or more at night. Isn't super big. Close to urban areas/schools. Lots of people that show up every night to ride park, but the parks kinda whack. Preferably run by people who don't know, or want a good park but haven't quite nailed it. Not run by psychotic fucks. Big enough to have like 15+ rails and some proper 25'+ jumps.
Just looking for mtns to keep on the radar in the future. Eventually would like to work at another mtn like this. Worked for a while on the ice coast in similar spots. The most legit was West in terms of being perfect in just about every way except for management.
I'll probably work in Tahoe again next season, but just looking at places to keep on the radar in case the right job comes up.
Tyrol Basin WI. The park is good and the park crew changes up the terrain often. The jumps change often as well. I dont have a comparison to other parks because I have never really skied anywhere else, but it's worth checking out.
rabbit hill AB. well before they took out our park lift but we're working on getting it back! we currently have an inventory of about 45-50 rail/box features ranging from baby beginner stuff to a 40' triple down quad kink or our 45' rainbow rail. and typically have a 2 jump line with a 35' and a 40'.
everyone on park crew has a big passion for the edmonton ski/snowboard scene and it shows. we do sort of fly under the radar especially with COP and banff only being 3 hours away. there's definitely a locals vibe here but not hostile by any means.

CyanicenineThe park features have always been pretty janky, especially the jumps, although now that I live elsewhere I think a huge part of it was the issue with trying to build in wet ass low elevation PNW snow.
haha there are tons of places that build nice jumps with wet maritime snow. honestly it's easier as it sticks together and doesn't compact as much as it's so dense. it's not like Stevens is that much higher and they manage decent jumps. big bear is nothing but park and that's right outside of LA (whatever elevation they have over the pass is negated by their latitude). whistler, tahoe and mammoth all get similar snow as well. not saying snoqualmie should be building pro lines like those places, but they could have decent medium jumps (they used to back in the day).
Honestly, Schweitzer mountain is the place to be. They have a lit park that is pretty good these days, a village that is small enough to be cozy but big enough to have some different bars and food options with tons of live music at Taps, they have some decent bike trails with lift access in the summer and lake lake Pend Oreille is fun as hell when its warm. There are a bunch of resorts in Canada a few hours north too. All in all Schweitzer just has a really cool laid back vibe.
Holiday Valley, New York but good luck getting in there.
Awesome place with a ton of potential but nobody knows a god damn thing about building and maintaining a terrain park there. People are fucking clueless so it’s a lost cause. You would change the game there if you got a chance to run things. It’s about 800 vert feet with a bunch of different terrain.
I would love to see you take things over there. You’d make a lot of dope riders super happy

Isn't that always the case? It's sad though. Places with a decent scene but on the mtn end don't really give a fuck about building/maintaining features, go super light on resources, and almost push anyone away who tries to help.
I'll keep an eye on job postings there. I miss working at small resorts.

The guy who runs big boulder parks used to be in charge of parks at HV.
They gave everything, park pro 600s, park pro 100s, winch cats...some of the most advanced snowmaking on the east coast and not a fuckin clue. It’s such a shame. That place is a crock of shit. Could be a premier east coast resort if they had any clue on how to build and maintain a park. And the kids there rip, have a unique style and are super fun to ski with. They deserve so much more than what HV shits out for them every year. I was on park crew there for 3 months this season and it was the worst experience ever. Really nice people to work for but they’re stuck in the mogul days and don’t grasp freestyle riding at all
JemsNah man I live around Minneapolis so it’s too far, I used to go there almost every Friday for a few months for my schools ski club before my friends and I got caught smoking a bowl before chicken.
Looking for a new jerb 100%. Been browsing a bit but I really like tahoe. I have a lot of friends here and life wise it's a good fit. That said not stoked where I'm working and not sure whether a switch to one of the less know spots here is the move or starting over at a small/medium spot that's trying to expand their park.
Trying to find a place that has some rails, has some people that ride there, or would come if it's dope. A place that's had a kind of shitty park but been trying or looking to try. A real fixer upper if you will. That said a place with management that's down with terrain parks and at least enough budget to have a few employees. Or a places that's already on the rise and somebody working there just needs a hand.
I'll only have 5 seasons in a cat, but 14 various day staff roles. I've built a bunch of features. Idk. There are some super legit people out there with absurd skills, not really me but I know terrain parks. Looking for a place I can help to improve their parks.
I don't think I want to work in a place that's already the sickest park, or well known for parks. Would rather work at a random place. Pretty open in terms of location. Just want to feel valued and make a difference somewhere.
Holler atcha boi.
Some rando pics from the laptop of rails/setups I built.
Donkey in Africa 3 years ago.
Showdown setup Oak Mountain. Built all the rails other than the down rail. Didn't have a spork but takeoffs came out decent with a shovel.
Pole Jam Turoa NZ, billibong slope comp
Donkey dick in the works for Turoa NZ
Oak Mountain Showdown building in progress
West mountain plaza holding on into the spring. Koke built the dfd and flat box. (dude crushes the fab game)
Yo you described bousquet mtn where I work in western Ma and hear me out they are selling it for 2 mill if some people wanted to chip for it you could own the sickest hill ever. Not that likely but lemme dream
Shocked App (Appalachian Ski) in NC hasnt been mentioned. Parks are always firing, cheap passes, and skiing till midnight on the weekends. Shoutout ATP park crew and the cat track

Hope to god someone with some $$$ saves Bousquet from going under. Many many nights there and tons of great memories.
