Trick Names

I keep on hearing people talking about tricks like; Switch on, 50/50, Switch off. I feel like an idiot when I hear these and have no idea what some of them mean. (I know some but not a lot), where do you learn this stuff?

K-Fed = Front swap continuing blind 2, super then mega fed for each spin over 270.

Britney = Backswap continuing front 2

Ellen = Front swap pretz front 270

When you take off switch, but you look over the opposite shoulder from the way you spin the trick

So if I hit a jump switch looking over my right shoulder and spin my trick to the left and do a 5, that’s a blender switch 5

Alley oop is usually in pipe. There it means you spin uphill. So if I do a left 5 on the left wall, that’s an alley oop 5

On a regular jump it means you spin the opposite direction of your carve. So if I take off as I’m carving to the left but spin a 3 to the right, that’s an alley oop 3

Lol that your tagline says "self taught".

It all becomes self explanatory the more skiing you watch. I remember never knowing how my friends knew if it was a 450 or a 630, but now I roll my eyes any time an x games announcer calls a trick wrong. You will learn with time

If I had to guess, because the game was brought to action sports by skateboarding and Stept popularized using the same name for skiing

also don’t get intimidated about it while watching slvsh. They use abbreviated trick names to an extent that no one else does really. It takes me a second sometimes to read what they write for them and I have a 4.0 gpa in trick calling

I've heard a couple different stories on how but I'm pretty sure the guy who named it did so just because K-Fed was so popular at the time...also have heard people joke about it being named Kfed because the trick and Kevin Federline are both popular and overrated

It's mostly used for pipe, but I think you could also call it alley oop if you 2/4/6 on spinning in towards the rail from the side you approach it, but that might just be for blading.
I assume if you spin 180 on to a 5050 in the same fashion, it's also alley oop, but idk because in skiing you don't always come at the rail from an angle.

In the popular Tom Wallisch clip “All Eight” the one footed slide is called a “Nugget”.
