Unfortunately if you are hitting rails and boxes it's pretty much inevitable that your edges are going to crack. As far as prevention goes, the best way to prolong your edges would be to detune them underfoot (round them out using a file and deburr them with a diamond or gummy stone) and also switch which feet you put your skis on to spread out the damage between the two. Sounds like you already have some edge cracks so to keep them from getting worse Id suggest you try to smooth out the cracks as best you can (again using files and stones) and fill any gaps you see with epoxy to prevent water from leaking into your core.
