I'm going for the medical book book I have forza look pivot 18's that i got on sale since 2019's almost over and they'll look sick on the medical book one.

I hope they're able to maintain their pricing and quantity control. There are mfg. tiers with these types of things where sometimes you can't just make 50 more next year or something. The last thing you want to do is over produce one style, flood the market, and not sell what you anticipated. This will lead to you not selling enough to pay your factory balances and left with excess inventory.

The vibe and inventory control is something we've always liked and been impressed by from Emmet and the Vishnu boys.

List 4 items are really two lists. List 4A hit 9/1 (and included skis), list 4B hits 12/15. The way it was covered in the news was as if it was all getting pushed to 12/15, sort of a "hey, we're gonna give you guys a bit more time before we fuck you over nothing", when really they just sort of sneakily fucked half the list while pretending it all got bumped past the holidays.

I could write a long rant on how fucking asinine these have been, and can tell you unequivocally as a brand manufacturing here they have done literally nothing but hurt our business too (these tariffs hit some of our raw materials almost a year ago - none of which I can even source in the US).

I'm sorry to see they hit Vishnu before their skis made it past customs. I listened in on a couple SIA-wide calls over the summer and you could just hear how stressful this was for the smaller brands on the calls - especially because you could just tell there was nothing that could be done. Hopefully this bullshit is resolved soon.

A little more clarification...Tariff List 4A went into effect on September 4th. Originally it was slated to have a "shipped by" clause meaning that if your goods were shipped by a certain date, the tariff did not apply. Our skis and many other companies products fit into that category. At the last second, however, it was changed to a "delivered by" clause meaning that everything entering customs after September 4th was included in the tariff.

This meant that overnight, many US companies were on the hook for tariffs they weren't planning on paying. To add insult to injury, the tariff rate was increased from 10% to 15%, meaning companies were required to pay 15% tax on what their import is worth IN FULL before the shipment was allowed to released from customs. I got a phone call from FedEx saying "Hi, your current balance is $16,876.04, are you going to be paying via card or wire transfer? We need it all, and also we charge holding fees for every day you can't pay :)"

UHHH WOT M8?

The ultimate irony of this whole situation is that even with the tariff it's still cheaper to do business in China for us, albeit by a small margin. So the tariffs accomplished literally nothing as far as persuading businesses to move their production stateside. Neat.

Anyway, the larger takeaway from this comedy of errors is that bad policy impacts real people, and rash political decisions by heads of state have far-flung repercussions. Vishnu is gonna be just fine, but god DAMN September was rough.

fuck dem tariffs. They're killing the dope small businesses like you guys and that sucks. Still not a bad price for such a rip ski.
