Why aren’t there more rope tows in this world... ?

Seems like most resorts could use a rope tow for one of their parks. Because riding the lift (especially a ride longer than 5 minutes) sucks ass. Ropes are fun as hell.

Tow ropes are best suited for smaller hills with a large incline, for example hyland hills.

Would be fun for a night skiing small jib/park setup but doesnt really make much sense to put them in out west. Places like PC though got rid of night skiing on three kings because they just couldnt find anyone to work the chairs nor did they wanna spend the money to do so.

Feels to me like you progress less when taking longer runs. In my experience when I hike a rail or use a tow rope, I get a lot more hits on that rail and a lot more focus onto it, and I try way more stuff than I would have if I was cruising through the park. Don't get me wrong, long cruising laps are fun, but its harder to try new stuff I feel like.

I don't know how they do it (actually they probably do it by skipping all the decent ski days doing all sorts of nefarious things you don't even have time to think of) but they took the reigns and they think someday they will find happiness swimming in gold like scrooge mcduck. Problem is you can't really swim in gold and swimming in cash is not fun so they will inevitably be sad in the end.
CEO dude if you are reading this save your life and start putting in rope tows. Think about it, take a high speed quad that leads to the top of the mountain powder stash and sell it and replace it with a surface lift. Pow will last longer, people will be able to get off when they want to. Buy a couple pairs of gloves and tow yourself to happiness.

It depends on the park and I guess the person. I remember riding nitro at Mount Snow. Good length and a ton of rails. Could try a new trick on one feature all sketched out, almost get it, get it better on each feature, and after 3 laps it was like you'd been doing them for 100 years.

Both have pros and cons. I think being able to see every feature helps you focus sometimes. You grow that comfort with each feature and can be less scary to throw something.

I've def hiked rails a bunch as well. Also we had a t bar where I worked 2 summers ago and only 12 ish rails and 4 jumps(2x2). Even though we changed things up decently you could get vary comfortable with hitting features and learning tricks. Your confidence was up.

Fresh features can inspire creativity but sometimes there's that shred of "fuck all this shits new!". Like when you go to a new mountain. Especially felt it riding a strange mountain night skiing. The features could be the same as your home mtn, but it feels new and sketch till you start getting a few tricks down. You have to build that confidence again.

A nice 3 jump line is always pretty sweet too.

I actually tried to get a tubing lift for a mid mtn lap park when I went back east but we had a shit winter and couldn't even open that area. Would have been killer if the lines were bad down low to just lap 3-4 line 2 wide of decent rails.

They have tons in New Zealand. Look up the chill pass, its like 80% tows.

Lol this is true for chill pass but only 2 of those mountains have a park and neither of them are serviced by a rope sorry. Half those hills don't even have a cat to groom with hahaha

I had this conversation with a civil engineer buddy of mine. Sounds like the ROI just isn't there for most resorts for what it requires as far as permits go. Cause installation an maintenance cost on them is gotta be next to nothing. Luckily i live an hour away from the best tow rope in the northwest.

Oh almost forgot its open until 10 on weeknights.

You should start a letter campaign and put an editorial in the local paper. How hard is it to turn on a rope tow? Do they hate children?

Im away at school so it doesnt affect me that much this year but I think they do not they are not for the boys at all

Rope tows are the best when it’s servicing something like a super pipe. Nice short ride explicitly for the feature you want to hit.
