How do you find athletes?

Been pretty frustrated lately, but the title says it all.

I'm really motivated to go out and put in real work to push forward my photo/video skills, but finding riders with the same motivation is proving to be very difficult. I totally understand not wanting to spend pow days standing at the top of the line waiting for the guy with the camera, but I know there must be other people who find just as much satisfaction getting a shot as they do riding the line. Do any of you more experienced M&A guys have any advice on where/how to find riders who are willing to film?

Just film anyone who wants to. Even if the action is nothing spectacular, it'll be fun and you'll get experience with different angles, lighting situation, interesting placements of the rider in the frame. If you're looking to improve your skills, film a variety of things, not just skiing.

if you want to make a serious video, try going to your local mountain/hill and ask them to post and find some people who are talented and want to film. they can use the final video as promotion and you get some good talent out of it. win win situation

I was riding at Brighton the other day with my a friend who isnt into park at all. I ended up peeling off to the park to try and find some people to shoot. Honestly just watched a few guys drop, saw they were throwing stuff, and just said "yo im a photographer, would you guys mind if I followed you around for a lap or to?" Obviously they were stoked. Who is going to say no to free pictures/video on hill? Just be a homie and let them do their thing while you do yours.

Appreciate the replies guys! I definitely do go out a lot and ask random people to film or shoot on the chair, unfortuantely MT's park scene is non existant but in the spring I'll be out doing just that at Hood/Whistler.

I wasn't really clear but I'm definitely talking about finding people to collaborate with on more serious larger(ish) scope projects. I feel like I have a decent understanding of my camera, but unfortunately it's hard to carry out a specific vision when you are quickly ripping around the resort with people you haven't met. I've been working on hunting down the marketing/media guys here at Bridger though and it would be siiick to do something for those guys.

If you're at Hood during springtime there's no doubt you'll have your share of good riders to pick from let alone a great backdrop. Which resort on Hood?
