Intermittent Fasting = skipping breakfast?

IF has some hype and I thought about giving it a try. I can see how keeping your diet on a strict schedule can help. I don't know a whole ton about the topic, but I have a few pieces of conventional wisdom that this diet goes against. So I am looking at how to avoid some of the negative of it.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
IF makes me skip breakfast. On a normal schedule I work from 9-5 workout after get home and eat by 8PM. I believe that eating after working out is really important so I cant skip this meal. Not eating for 16 hours would put my first meal of the day well past noon. That means no breakfast.

The thing is I am not doing this to lose weight. Skipping breakfast is just an easy way to cut down on how much you eat during the day. Breakfast kickstarts your metabolism, so I think that eating at least a little something would be better than nothing.

I've skipped breakfast my entire life, not because it's a thing (didn't know it was until today) just that I'm just not hungry when I wake up, never have been. I eat 2 times a day: lunch and dinner.

I have no idea if that's good or bad. You're saying you're not trying to lose weight, then why would you change your diet? If you're fine with your current weight then just keep eating when you want to eat.

Bulking up to gain muscle weight and then cutting down to lose fat weight is the core of bodybuilding.

The idea is to cut fat but not weight. I am just getting ready to enter the cutting phase

Would it not be easier and healthier to switch over to high reps and also incorporate more cardio?

You could also switch up your food to everyone’s favorite - eating clean.

I see. I don't know much about bodybuilding, I have a few buddies who got into it and they actually started eating more to gain muscle, not skip meals. One of my friends eats like 5 meals a day now and is looking at the protein count on the packages of basically everything.

People generally stop eating around 8 because Your body needs a few hours to digest and perform some functions before rest. If you eat then go to bed soon after your body is still operating versus resting and recovering a full 8 hours or however long you sleep

Not going to lie. Skipping breakfast seems like the easiest route. Adding an extra hour of cardio just won't fit on a regular basis

You got that right. Eat more = getting bigger. Unless you are absolutely spot on with your diet you will gain some fat with the muscle. So the cutting phase should be used. Its all about balance, like not skipping leg day.

The bulk phase is the best. You enter into the counter-culture. Most people are worried about eating too much. The goal is to eat too much. It just gets difficult when you get busy. Cooking 5 meals a day at home? Not going to happen. You have to pack tons of food to carry around. It just takes a ton of planning to pull off properly.

Which is also why IF seems to pair well. You don't change how much you eat. Just how often.

You will loose weight if you are on a callorie deficit, (eating less calories than your body needs to maintain its weight) skipping breakfast just makes it easier to eat less. Intense cardio will burn fat as well as muscle density. I’d just stick to lifting and light cardio

There are are online calculators that determine your maintenance calories

Breakfast is fuel for me. Gotta eat as much as I can to avoid a crash later. Everyone is different tho

I would say eat when you prefer within reason. At the end of the day it's calories in Vs out. I know a few serious body builders and they don't particularly care about it. More the quality and quantity over the course of the day on a cut.

The only thing i wouldn't skip is post workout snack or meal, cause you'll probably crash super hard if you don't refuel some.
