Donate one thing (or one sum of money) to as many different causes/places/people as you are old. For example, donate a bag of dog food to the local SPCA, donate some old items to Goodwill, donate $5 to saving the whales, give a homeless guy a pizza, you get the idea. Make it about giving, not getting. Make a day out of it.

AbiHWhat’s something fun to do on a birthday?

I go on an epic adventure. One year I put down the hardest bike trails in my region without using a car. Another year, my buddies took off on a 2 day hiking trip to summit a 2500m peak in the middle of nowhere.

I try to complete something off my bucket list of crazy things to do. It sets the day apart from the others and people can bail at their will. I have the same amount of fun alone as I do with friends. Plus everyone forgets my birthday, so their presence is my gift!

That's a cool idea but working in the ski industry it's more like "can I keep my car on the road, pay my rent, and possibly eat some food this month?"

Birthdays haven't been about getting since I was a little kid, but I'm pretty tapped to give at this point.

Actually for some reason reminded me of this food drive the boy scouts were doing at safeway. Had a few cheap groceries to sustain my sad life and saw their thing. Threw some of my food in there. There were like 2 cans in their box before. Was kind of a bummer to think about with all the money floating around tahoe.
