How much would you put on the line for skiing?

Simple fix...... no boarding school.

Sacrificed? Idk. Maybe sleep?

I worked a double shift at a restaurant, got off at midnight, then picked up some friends and drove(me driving whole way) 6 hours to loon for the last hike and huck in 08. Was too shot to really ride well but was pretty awesome.

I dont know how serious I can be taken given this is but a mere post on a forum. But I am pretty much saying fuck it, and taking my my experience in sales and cooking up to the mountains to go live forever. I dont need alot of money; just a car that runs with a dog in it, a couple friends, and some mountains to slide down. I guess you could say im putting my future security on the line, along with plenty of opportunity costs involved with making the decision. From what ive gleaned though, everything has its ups and downs, you cant take anything with you and eventually we will all be wormfood or ashes in the soil. Might as well do what makes you feel like that time your crush unfroze you in freeze tag way back when, right? Maybe Ill regret it, Ill surely find out.

I'm planning to move to Europe for school and then probably will drop out and become a ski bum traveling around then might come back or maybe not I don't know what I want yet

I guess it was the realization, and maybe this is weird for being only 23 going on 24, that life isnt forever. Im tired of being jealous of the guy who gets to live in the mountains and do what he wants. Sure you will struggle, but it will only make you better for it. I know I have plenty to learn, all I have really figured out so far is where I want to live, and that my future lady doesn't necessarily need to ski, but you can bet your ass it will be discussed with vigor.

Good on you for following your passions. There aren't many people I know that have the guts to leave everything behind and chase what makes them happy.

Current sacrifice: time, money, and sleep. I have to either drive 10-12hrs or fly west to ski somewhere decent....so that sucks. I spend way more time and money than most to go skiing which also is hard. Only at 12 days right now, because 2-3 days of every week off is spent preparing, traveling, or recovering. If I lived near a big ski resort, I'd have over 40 days by now.

This thread has been my daily dilemma for the past few years. Graduated 3 years ago and have a great job, but it's very difficult to ski a lot anywhere decent. I fucking hate city life, especially when there's not even any parks nearby worth using- then it would be fine. I would never be able to become a ski bum nor would want to except maybe in retirement. It would be financially irresponsible due to loans and obligations and also I like what I'm doing. I just hate living in these flat places.

There's a possibility I could move west to a city or suburbs within decent driving distance from mountains, but there's also an even higher possibility that I'll be moving somewhere even flatter and warmer instead. It's an internal conflict I think about almost daily. Either way I'm stuck where I am now for the next 2.5yrs at least.

Called in sick to hit the slopes earlier this week on Monday. Nobody was at the slope for few hours until at least after lunch. It was about 15 degrees outside 2 ✊ That's how much Im willing to sacrifice :)

Females. Sleep. Grades (sometimes) Etc. I work nonstop as soon as the season ends, and once the season is back in I do shitty work at the local restraunt a few days a week. (My Boss understands and gives me weekends off, he’s a big skier too). Hell I even sacrifice skiing to ski, I instruct at my hill and it sucks but I get the free pass and free family passes.
