Beginner on advanced skis

I haven't been on skis for over 20 years (snowboarding instead), but I like to get back into skiing. I've been offered a pair of Rossignol Bandit B2 which are advanced/expert skis looks like from 2005. I know the technology and shape have dramatically changed over the last 20 years and I'm basically learning to ski all over again. So can I actually easily learn on these skis or should I just get skip these get a beginner/intermediate skis instead?

What kind of skier were you before?

Also whatever binding are on those skis are probably trash and no shop will work on them at all due to their age and liability reasons.

Assuming all the components are fine, you’ll be fine. The skis will just be less forgiving which is good for making sure you’re doing things right.

Seattle area.

I'm not looking to keep these just to get started and back into things for a couple of years, they looks more like snowboards than the ones I used in the past.

those are old...but good...but not particularly forgiving skis. what skill level in skiing do you think you're going to be (re-) starting with here?

i mean, theyll work fine. but if you can afford a different pair then you'll have an easier time getting back into things for sure

I'm hoping to be back in to intermediate after a couple of times, I still remember how to ski just need to work on the muscles to react to what my brains wants to do. My ultimate goal is to be able to go to blacks and double blacks with my son since that's all he wants to do these days.

How big are you?

I just looked through you Craigslist and it sucks, mostly people trying to sell ancient obsolete skis. Good selection of kid's skis though.

word, in that case i'd put it this way: you can use those skis and it will be okay, but you're going to be working harder than you would be with more intermediate skis and it might be a chore as you knock the rust off your skills. so if you have the money, i'd suggest getting something newer (skis have changed a ton in the past 10 years) and a little easier to use (those aren't particularly forgiving or noob-friendly skis)

I was using the ski calculator and charts for my 150 pounds something in 160-170cm range is what I'm looking for.

Free skis? Go for it. Take a good look at the bindings tho. They might be fine but plastic fatigue is for real. Maybe they are bandits with FKS 155s and then you have yourself a bomber set up.

Bindings are Rossignol Axial 120 probably from 2005/2006 also, probably should replace these with a newer set.
