Do any jobs on skis pay a decent wage?

Was doing some research on ski patrol and mountain ops position and everywhere I look states that ski patrol "make $10 an hour their first year, with no benefits and no holiday pay and only get overtime after 48 hours worked in a week." Seems a bit....shitty?

Anyway, would love to get some firsthand info on this and discuss any other positions that could turn into a decent living...thanks!

From my experience ski bumming in crested butte, you have to either work a ton of overtime or get multiple jobs. even when you "ski" everyday, chances are it wont be for the entire day. i skied everyday but usually only for 2 hours during a break. i tuned skis and worked in a shop about 60 hours a week and picked up as much overtime as possible over the holidays and busy weekends. it can be a struggle, and sometimes living situations suck, but its worth it

Not on your first year. Stick with instructing or patrolling for a few seasons and you could earn living wage. Or you could tend bar, not get burnt out, and be able to afford to live without six australians in bunkbeds sharing your closet under the stairs.
