15 YEAR OLD ASSAULTED BY 40 YEAR OLD, NOTHING DONE ABOUT IT. PLEASE RE-SHARE.

Long story short, a close friend of mine was skiing with a bunch of other friends and I yesterday (Sunday the 10th). He is 15 years old and is pretty decent in the park. He gets cut off on a jump, collides with the guy (40 years old) they both go airborne, and when my friend tries to get back up, the 40 year old guy is on top of him. He says “I don’t care if you’re f***ing 15 years old, you stupid motherf***er. The guy proceeds to punch him, and gives my friend a big gash in his lip from his braces.

All 5 of us (we were all witnesses) chase the guy down to the lift, follow him up the lift, and hold him at the top of the lift while I run over to get slope security. A I bring slope security over to the man, and he asks him for his season pass or a ticket. The man presented neither. Then all 5 of us tell the story and how my friend (Dylan) was pretty much tackled and punched. The slope security officer (FRANK LYONS) did absolutely nothing about this situation. Rather, he made both sides apologize (Dylan did not apologize, he did not need to anyway).

The slope security officer let a man away who
1. Assaulted a god damn 15 year old kid.
2. Didn’t even have a pass.

The slope security officer also did not even ask for the mans name.

ALSO, MANY MANY PEOPLE SAID THIS SIMILAR SITUATION HAPPENED TO THEM BEFORE AND HOW NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT.


My friends’ parents have already contacted police over the situation and they are handling it.

BUT,

NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT.

FUCK 7 SPRINGS SLOPE SECURITY
FUCK 7 SPRINGS AS A WHOLE (except park crew). YOU LET A GROWN MAN ASSAULT A 15 YEAR OLD KID.

YOU GUYS SHOULD HE FUCKING ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES.

It's pretty obvious the 40 year old should be charged in that scenario. So why is it so much of a gray area when it happens in a ski resort?

Teenagers can exaggerate stories, sure. But that's not up to the ski patrol / ambassador to decide, it's up to the justice system because yes, punching a stranger is a criminal offence. It doesn't matter if the kid was negligent by being rowdy on the hill, that doesn't negate the criminality of punching someone.

Not that I agree with punching the “kid”, the difference is that if someone bumps into you at a park you’re 99% ok, maybe u sprain ur wrist or something. People get severely injured or even die skiing pretty often. Plug “Death (your home mountain)” into google and there will probably be at least one result. A snowboarder died at seven springs this January. I was talking the other day to an older guy who’s femur snapped when some kid skied into him. From what the op said it the “kid” ran into this guy pretty fast and sent him airborne. Also I feel like attitude is a big part of it. If the kid had said “oh I’m so sorry are you ok” I really doubt he would of gotten punched. Instead he hid behind being 15. If you’re 6 that’s understandable. By 15 you are old enough to be responsible for your actions while skiing. And if you want to talk about legality its also illegal (at least in ohio idk about Pennsylvania) to be negligent and cause a collision while skiing. Also what do you expect the slope security guy to do? He’s got 2 different stories, no one is severely hurt, just a cut on the lip. The kid wont apologize and the adult wont give his name. It’s not like he can arrest the guy he’s not a cop.

tl;dr: don’t punch people but don’t be an idiot and take responsibility for your actions and you won’t get punched.

He was hitting it as a fucking normal race jump. He wasn’t throwin a 5 off of it
or something and if he was using it as a park jump it wouldn’t have mattered.

Still confused why everyone thinks a 15 year old kid being a potential asshole is grounds for battery.

Everyone can talk about the all different sides but last time I checked it was still illegal for an adult to punch minor, especially when the circumstances were an accidental ski crash.

A) lay off the caps
B)"fuck 7 springs" doesnt convince me you are a trustworthy or mature person if you actually wanted to take this matter seriously

What could we possibly do to help anyway? Spam the guy on twitter based on your thread? What were you doing while your friend got pounded? Did you take any photos? why wouldnt you insist on contact info or call the police on the spot when you saw it was not going to be delt with. I'm not calling you a liar, but 15 year old park skiier can be some of the cockiest imo. Maybe contact the resort in all caps, but dont mention this thread.

Not saying who was in the right in this case but I know for a fact theres a chance homeboy went under the lip when the kid was already on the jump and there wasnt anything he could do

What the 40 year old did was completely unacceptable, but this is NOT the way for the kid to react. It does reek of "I'm not responsible for my actions because of my age." The 15 year old should not be bringing his age up, there is no reason for that.

I'm sure there is more to the story, but what the 40 year old did is absurd. You CANNOT use violence for any reason, unless it is in self-defense. It really does not sound like 7 Springs handled this properly. Like I said though, I'm sure there is more to the story.

Did your friend get cut off? Or did your friend cut the guy off? I don't ski park, but I think park should possibly have different skier code rules than the rest of the mountain, maybe in some places it does. If there is a line to drop in above a jump and someone cuts off someone who has dropped from the line, that should be a violation of skier's responsibility code.

1) Since no video or even photo of injury, we all can just assume what happened. Thanks op for an incomplete story. What kind of person doesn't take a picture of their wound these days?
2) Who was truly responsible for the collision? That person would be negligent for that aspect of any injuries sustained. Did the guy really punch your friend? Or was the fat lip a result of smashing his face on the ground after falling?
3) This talk about assault is a no contest, even if some of you low life's on here don't understand state and local laws. Assault for any reason other than to defend your self is a crime and you most certainly will be charged for it. If it's on a minor, then expect even harsher charges. I don't care if someone killed your dog. If you retaliate after the fact, you must face the consequences of YOUR actions. The comments on here make it seem like there's a lot of 20 and 30 year olds who are still stuck in high school days where getting into a fistfight is cool. Grow the fuck up you losers. I can't tell you how many times in the past 10 years I've wanted to fight someone, but the truth is, I'd rather not go to jail. Hitting a 15 year old regardless of how rude he is being, is grounds for arrest.
4) OP you're dumb for not calling the cops. Do you really think a security guard who's probably a failure at life and making just over minimum wage is going to give a shit about a scuffle where no serious injuries were resulted? Not a chance. Shit he probably gets in a fight or two every once in a while. All he cares about is clocking out after doing the most minimal work possible and getting drunk at his local bar afterwards. He was probably just like you and your friends in his day and doesn't give a shit.
5) Posting here is a mistake. Clearly.
6) Your only option now is to have ADULTS of the child involved contact resort management and demand they do something to reconcile their error in handling the situation. Their management seems like the type who wouldn't want this sort of problem handing around very long. You will need photos of the aftermath if you really want to cause a stir. The security officer, no matter how annoying you fucks are, no matter who caused the collision, should have called the cops. Plain and simple. He dropped the ball on that one. I'm not sure why this deserves 3 pages of a thread though.

Because two of us work for the resort and I’m not trying to lose my main source of income and my season pass (if we get fired they take our passes and don’t let us buy one)

Sounds a lot like the 15 y/o should have put the brakes on, maintained situational awareness of downhill and surroundings, and backed off if there was a chance of getting snaked on a line.

Do people actually believe law enforcement would make an arrest here? Don't get technical with assault is an assault garbage. That's just feelings/ego talking. They're not all equal. Ever see police arresting athletes for a game fight?
