First inverted

Im wanting to do my first inverted or upside down trick but do not know if i want to front or back flip. I can do both on tramps, diving boards, or off benches,etc. On snow i can do up to a 7 and have tried a couple switch 5s

Learned backies a month ago. Jump was about 3 feet tall to flat, you should be fine

Backies are way easier than 7s dude haha you got this. Pick whatever jump you love and commit to it and it’s yours

My advice is to find a small poppy jump to do a backie on. that way your only focus is getting it around, and you don't have to worry about over rotation. you can pretty much assume throwing as hard as you can. Just to prove to yourself that you can indeed get it around, and that will give you the confidence to take it to the "real"/ bigger jumps.

Surprised by the comments and results. Front flips are extremely easy and much safer in my opinion. They can be thrown on almost anything with all the pop they generate. When it’s my first few runs, I’ll throw a few of them even before 360s.

Edit:
It’s very hard to over rotate and if you under rotate you just land on your butt. Low risk.

Under rotate on a backflip, you break your head clean off.

Front flips are easier until you try or get good at backflips. Usually after the first flip backies become easier. Some people throw too much with their arms into the rotation though and struggle to not overrotate. That can make it tricky.

Honestly used to front flip EVERYTHING, probably haven't done one in 3 or 4 years and even then was kind of a random bust out then. I rarely even backflip any more at least in the northern hem seasons but when I do it generally feels pretty good. That ability to spot the landing and stall out, snap around is unrivaled by fronts. You just don't have as much control, even if you're sick af at doing them.

Also a giant layed out backy > everything else sometimes in terms of feel.
