Anyone ride the arv 106 as a one ski quiver

I've been using the 2016/17 ARV 106 for past 2 seasons (60 days). They've held up well from Anywhere park - powder in BC, other then a few core shots and a slight edge crack the durability has been good. They can be a little soft in the tail in deeper snow, and will chatter a bit when charging. But they kill it in the park and generally anywhere around the mountain. I've been nothing but happy with them.

Note: They have changed the shape for the 18/19 model. 2.2mm edge instead of the 1.7mm, Slightly more tapered, longer sidewall and a new poplar ash wood core (slightly stiffer & snappier.)

I do. Never had a problem with them even up to 1-2ft of snow. Skied all conditions including rock solid east coast ice and pretty much everywhere on the mountain east and west. The only area they can get a little sketchy is on steep packed powder that's bumpy and unforgiving but they're still manageable.

Of course there's better skis out there for certain occasions but I'm making do fine with these puppies. When they're totally destroyed I'll probably upgrade to a charger type of ski tho.

Edit: my skis are also the 2017 version and considering the negative attention those received for all mountain performance, and based on the goodness they've delivered to me so far, the new models should be killer as they're improved in many ways.

never wished I had a different ski

My daily driver as a park ski and pow ski in the UP of Michigan, (got 300+ inches of snow last year for context). Mont Ripley and Mount Bohemia. my 2018's came apart underneath the binding after 3 weeks and I've heard similar horror stories with the same model, 100% manufacturer error (uneven glueing). The 2019's I got on warranty have been holding up and are very fun. Have zero complaints about how they ride in the park and outside.

What is the sizing like? I’m 5’7” and not sure to go for the 172 or 180. None of the shops near me stock them so will have to buy online. Be using as daily driver / light pow ski as have a dedicated park ski already. Advice appreciated

Depends on what sizes you prefer. What length ski do you ride now? Are you satisfied with the length of ski you have now? What's your skiing ability? Do you plan to be jumping off stuff? Longer will be more stable to land. Also consider with the tip and tail rocker, the effective edge is shorter. Lastly, the 180cm is slightly shorter than 180cm if you straight tape measure it.


I'm a sucker for longer skis so obv biased but vote with 180cm since you already have a park ski.

I have just 5 days on my new ARVs, came from dollos they are starting to fall apart. My initial impression is that they are rad. Definitely stiffer than the dollo, which is exactly what I wanted as I found the nose of the dollo to be a bit soft for a heavier guy like myself (~190lbs). Makes a sort of finite loading point when doing a nose butter that the dollos seemed to sort of just not be able to support me as well. I detuned them from the get go as I am a 99% rail skier in my older age on the east coast, not a lot of jump days until spring for this old body. They definitely seem a bit more of a charging ski, and have held up as great as a park ski could in variable snow, crud and boot deep pow. Currently in Austria skiing some old wind packed stuff and they cut through like a knife and butter. I don’t think you will be disappointed if you are interested in something about that width, then again they don’t feel as nimble as the dollos on rails which makes sense as it feels like there is much more ski even though it’s marginally wider than the 98 waist on the dollo. Still can do all my rail tricks with them but takes a bit more effort. Overall 10/10, just wish they had the 2.5mm edge like the 2019 Bdog, though I’ve been pleasantly surprised by my old dollos edges. Just the noses are falling apart from hard impacts against rails when spinning out too early etc. some epoxy on them and they are keeping on. Lasted longer than my older domains and chronics for sure. Not sure about the hate I’ve seen on Armada here but if you Ski a lot of rails I doubt any ski is really gonna hold up much better than any other. That said my Gf got the bdogs and I hope to ride them a few laps for comparison sake, nice to have the same bsl.
