The Harlaut switch triple 14 - is it trippin or triple?

I have a hard time to decide if Herink Harlauts switch triple 14 is a legit triple or a quasi triple. At first glance it looks like a triple, however upon closer inspection it appears as though he is actually spinning without any cork but uses the tweak of his grab to create the illusion of a spin in a corked manner. What is your opinion, and do you think its fair that is scored like a triple?

Sometimes he does it more inverted but a lot of the times yeah, its just a straight spin with a mad tweaked grab. Still dope tho.

Announcers always say it’s triple flat, but his feet never go anywhere near the height of his head even with his tweaked grab where he sticks his feet up. I have no idea how this can be considered a triple, watch it in slow motion and look for any signs of cork/invert and you won’t find anything. It’s maayyybe almost true flat but it would be a true flat 14 not a triple...

And then he acts like it has the same magnitude as other triples. Like at dew tour he was all pissy cause he was the “only one to throw a triple” (when someone else actually threw a triple), and he’s fooled the world into thinking it’s a triple and winning comps with it

/rant I don’t hate the guy nor do I really care despite what it looks like, he’s a lot better than me lmao

I have heard announcers refer to it as an “orbital” rotation. I think I remember seeing one of those ski addiction tutorials on orbital spins. I can’t remember if they referenced flat spins in it.

He clearly goes off axis 3 times,

TTP in this thread how is that not a cork? You can literally screenshot every time he’s off axis. People that are saying most of the time it’s a straight up spin are wrong. Look at his 1620 from way back in the day, that’s a straight up spin..not this.

TTP in this thread how is that not a cork? You can literally screenshot every time he’s off axis. People that are saying most of the time it’s a straight up spin are wrong. Look at his 1620 from way back in the day, that’s a straight up spin..not this.


I think there is definitely 3 different off axis rotations, but is it a cork? I think the rotation seems more like a flatspin rodeo thing than a normal cork. Its nothing like other triple corks and not just because of the grab.

I think the way it’s set is what throws people off. He sets it almost like a switch bio then his body like comes back around, really weird. I feel like orbital is the right word for it I don’t know lol. I would definitely call this a cork over the super Flippy “corks” some of the comp jocks and snowboarders do on their triples.

This trick reminds me of PK Hunder’s double cork 10’s. Very similar rotation in my opinion

True, some snowboarder triple corks are like a 90, triple backflip, and another 90. Do you have a video for that cork 10?

i think youre thinking of 2009 x games big air. i think that was when he threw double wobble 12s but dumont won with a double front (because of the text vote haha)

To anyone saying it's the grab that makes it look corked, it's the opposite. If his skis were parrelel to the ground, he would look really hunched over. Idk how to explain why I'm trying to say but watch the vid and imagine his skis facing the ground

Just watch his head though. It never dips. He just pulls his skis up so it looks like he's off axis.

He’s literally facing the ground in the last pic, I think him reaching for the grab that makes you think that, in no way, shape or form is that an upright rotation. Look at his 1620 from back in the day, that’s an upright rotation. This might not be “cork” but he goes off axis 3 times.

I always thought that it was a true flat rotation. It’s more of an orbital flat which is definitely difficult to pull off despite the fact that it looks like he is just spinning vertically with his grab brought up to his chest it is most certainly a difficult one. Give it a try on the trampoline sometime and you’ll realize how hard it is to get an orbital rotation like that. I think it’s amusing that people on NS are talking about this in such controversy as if it is a trick that everyone can do; there is a reason he’s the only person that’s doing it. It’s Henrik fucking harlaut and he knows what he’s talking about so shut the fuck up.
